I was going to try to get tickets for Avenue Q through the lottery. Anyone know the details like what time I should get there, how much are the tickets, etc.?
Avenue Q is dark on Sunday. The lottery is very tough. They have 12 tickets total. The cost is $21.25 per ticket. Get there at 5:30 on Monday. The drawing is at 6. Good luck. I have lost three times. IT SUCKS TO BE ME. I love it. I have seen the show three times so far.
Fridays are the worst time. If I were you, I would try on a week night. I lost this past Friday. You can always try for rear mezz at 47 per ticket. Just see it. It is a blast! Good luck! Updated On: 8/22/04 at 01:51 PM
I wish I could go on a weeknight but I have work and school so its either Friday, Saturday or nothing. I'm not counting on it, I was planning on going to the midnight show at the Boston Comedy Club anyway so I figure if I don't win the lottery, I'll just go bar-hopping.
What's the lottery like for Wednesday matinees? I have orchestra seats, but they're not as good as lottery would be, so I'm entering just for the hell of it. Anyone know what my chances are for winning for a Wednesday matinee? Also, what time should I get there to enter my name?
I actually won the lottery last Sat. afternoon. It was really great. The *only* issue is that you can't see the whole stage at once because you're so close..and you're somewhat forced to look at only one person at a time...so for example, you're looking at one person talk, and you miss the reactions of the others. Can anyone else sympathize? The only other issue I had was that I got into the Golden and found that Stephanie AND Johnny were out. :O( Yes, the understudys were fine...but it's just not the same. Must say though that Barrett Foa was very sweet and ultra foxxy at the stage door.
I won Wicked on the first try. Go figure. I think it is worth trying again. I also won Hairspray on the first try. I got the very last seat in the last row. I love Hairspray. I have seen it three times as well.
PS Mary Bond Davis is the sweetest woman. I love her!

Sweetie, I have a full time job so I have never tried for a Wed matinee. My guess is it would be better. Give it a try! Hope you win. Avenue Q, is the most fun you will ever have. I really love it. Hope you win. Corine

The avenue q lottery is really hard now because its a small theatre and it won best musical. I won on my first try BTW . If you dont get the lottery try the cancellation line...i didnt know about that at the time i won the lottery. I was soo nervous that i thought, if i didnt win, i would never get to see avenue q...but little did i know what the cancellation line was for.
"Chicago is it's own incredible theater town right there smack down in the middle of the heartland. What a great city! I can see why Oprah likes to live there!" - Dee Hoty :-D
Actually, when I won the Ave. Q lottery last week, my whole family had each put our name in once (according to the rules) and there were so many people, but both my mom AND I got pulled so we all got to see it from the front row. I couldn't belive our luck.
You are very lucky. Congratulations. Now you need to go back and see Stephanie and John. I would love to see Barrett Foa. I have seen the entire cast (regular cast) three times. I can't imagine anyone replacing Stephanie though. She just seems to fit the part. She is great and very sweet. The whole cast are really great people.

Corine, I've seen it 2 times with the OBC. So I was only upset because I have a small crush on Tags. :O) Barrett did a great job though..gotta say that and I agree about Stephanie, although Aymee Garcia did a fab job with "Fine Fine Line"...some serious belting.
Your odds for the lottery are best on a Tuesday night, thats the night that its also easiest to purchase tickets for. If you don't win the lotto your best bet is to be within the first three people on the cancellation line.
