2019, 10:26:24 AM Other than the Lincoln Center archives, I can't find any footage of the original production of Godspell, either at the Cherry Lane or at The Promenade. There are a few talk-show appearances on You Tube, and some great footage posted by original cast member Peggy Gordon of the 10th anniversary production, but none of the original. Sigh.
I managed to snag two tickets for an upcoming Donna performance in orchestra row J on the left...seats 9 and 11. I am sure they are pretty good seats, but can anyone clarify whether or not we will be too far to the left to see the facial expressions while Donna is eating?
I do not post here often anymore, but can't not add to all the kudos for the show and for Donna Murphy. I saw the show tonight, and want to see how I feel about it in a couple of days, but will tentatively say it's the greatest thing I've ever seen. The joy pouring out of that stage and that orchestra pit, matched with the extreme appreciation & joy being fed right back at it from the audience is a thing of beauty, and so needed right now! Murphy is ruling the s

1. Midler almost didn't get up on stage. She literally had to be dragged up there.
2. As much as I hate Rudin, she was literally talking during his speech and then someone said what looked like "watch" and she made a face, said ok and walked away.
I wonder if Best Actress in a Musical could go the way of the Julie Andrews/Donna Murphy award back in 1996? If I recall, Donna was not expected to take the award after Julie's reaction to the nomination (or lack thereof for the rest of the cast/staff of Victor Victoria.). I wonder if Rudin's behavior may cost Bette the award....

Jeez, I don't understand how. I can't even remember anything Colella did apart from her solo and even that was just sung nicely. Jones isn't my choice either but between the two there's no comparison.
Does this recording use the same overture they use in the theatre? If so, how disappointing! The one on the '94 recording gets your pulse racing...this one is....well... nice.
Just wanted to say that I caught the opening leg of the tour in Providence yesterday, and it was magnificent. I saw the show in NYC in February on a night when apparently Kelli was not feeling well, and I was overall underwhelmed, with the giant exemption of Ruthie Ann Miles, who I thought was absolutely glorious.
The tour was fresh, sounded glorious (18 piece orchestra did the score as much justice as the large orchestra in NY), and Jose Llana and Laura Michelle Kelly blew me aw
" There’s hardly a moment in the exhilarating, devastating revival of the musical “Falsettos” that doesn’t approach, or even achieve, perfection. This singular show, about an unorthodox family grappling with the complexities of, well, just being a family — unorthodox or otherwise — has been restored to life, some 25 years after it was
