Who else has seen this show? I remember it was on the first Tony Awards show I had ever seen. I was so excited I taped it, and watched it over and over. Eventully it came to town (STARRING CHITA RIVERA!!) And my Mom and I saw it, and I cried when Chita entered, even though I was just a kid in 6th grade. The show itself was amazing, and was also my first exposure to a gay person. (Keep in mind, I grew up in Colorado...) Did anyone else see this show? The sets, and projections, as well as the show itself were spectacular. I just wish I could have also seen Bebe Neuwirth in the role of Aurora!

Bebe played Aurora in London, if I'm not mistaken.

I like the book and score, but I hated the staging. All the bars and projections and lasers were too much. There were moments I had trouble spotting the actors on stage. I would like to see a more minimized production. My favorite that season was Blood Brothers.

I prefer Vanessa over Chita in that role.

And if she'll say, "My darling, I'm yours!" I'll throw away my striped tie and my best pressed tweed, all I really need is the girl...

I also saw Vanessa on Broadway and then Chita on tour. Definitely enjoyed Chita's performance better.

I never saw the show, but I have the original Toronto cast recording and love it. How about fellow Canadian Brent Carver? I heard he was amazing - he won the Tony for playing Molina, after all.

I think a minimalist staging of this show (a la the stark Mendes revival of Cabaret) would be fantastic. Has anyone heard of this musical being staged after the Broadway run?

In my opinion, the BEST broadway musical I have ever seen. This show had it all. Everything from comedy to drama to melodrama to dancing and singing galore. I think it is the best score written by Kander and Ebb...yes even better than Cabaret or Chicago! I saw this in London and on Broadway three times and Bebe was fabulous in London!!! Chita is an icon and when she kicked at like 60, Vanessa was good, voice wise, and Chita's standby was Stephanie Pope who was unbelieveable as the Spider Woman/Aurora I was blown away!!!!

Theater anywhere, anytime and with anyone. It's my passion.
