Does anyone else think this guy is very wrong for the part of Zozer? He has an "old man" voice and did not sing most of the high notes and had to yell for some of the notes he couldn't bring down. I think that part needs a bright sounding tenor like on the cd.

I have no clue what part Mickey Dolenz is.
I don't even know what show he's in.
But I do know one thing...

THE MONKEES ROCK!!!

I starred in a short film called Magnetic Personality. Check it out!

i really dislike him in the role. I spent alot of the time when he was on stage yesterday trying to figure out who he reminded me of. I finally figured it out - Jay Leno. Just my opinion though.

Despite the fact that I would rather him not be in the role, he is still very nice and gracious at the stage door!

Yeah, John Hickock is perfect! He sings the role in a completely different way than Mickey Dolenz. There's absolutely nothing rock'n'roll about Mickey Dolenz's voice in this show.

Adored John H. Even though he's probably not even 10 years older than Adam (making their whole father-son relationship a bit odd), he's got acting chops and a voice, to boot. Mickey was sweet at the stage door, but he speaks half the song and yells the rest of it. And I think the thing I dislike the most about his performance is that he's just not sinister. He seems to play everything with a wink, tp make himself seem charming and endearing to the audience.

I'm sorry to hear people don't enjoy him in this role, because he does seem like a sweetheart and I have been a fan since I was little!

Oh, yeah. Saw him back in February and was hoping when I went back a couple weeks ago, that he'd gotten better. He's just too wooden and definitely not sinister enough. I thought of the Jay Leno thing, too! I agree, though, he is very nice at the stagedoor.

I hung out with Cheyenne Jackson in his dressing room waayyyyyy before he tickled D2.

I'm really upset to hear this, I have tickets for the 21st. I saw John H. prior to this and he was phenomenal in the role. I can't stand how this show continues to compromise performance and talent for big names. I would rather have seen it close ealier rather than do this.

I haven't seen it but I plan on seeing it soon just because he's in it and the Monkees kick ass.

And hang on, when did you win the discus?

He is just not 'bad' enough. I remember how scary John was... didn't want to sit too close to that stage.

Mickey lacks the arrogance and ... well, the voice. This has been mentioned before but he doesn't really sing Another Pyramid, he speaks it.

I agree with him not being scary enough...John's eyes were SO creepy! Especially sitting close to the stage...he had those big, crazed eyes...

I wasn't too impressed with Mickey...and he and Cheyenne Jackson made a pretty comical looking father and son :)

Yeah i saw AIDA twice and I didn't care for Mickey Dolenz as Zozer. He's a good guy though. I met him after the show and he was very nice!

He was awful.

Deborah Cox on the other hand, brilliant.

Also, Lisa B. was amazing as well.

Lisa, the girl playing Amneris, is outstanding. Her belt is very unusual like something I've never heard before but far suprior than most belters. At the end of "Strongest Suit," esspecially, she can belt a high "ooooooo" vowel very loud and easily which is a challenge for singers.

I saw Lisa on tour and thought she was wonderful! Mickey was OK, but I have nothing to compare him to.

Just wanted to say that I did not know before hand that Mr. Dolenz was in the production of "Aida". He was always a favorite of mine and I was thrilled to realize it was him I was seeing after all this time.

I was to young to go the Monkee concerts but I loved the show and had all of their albums. I believe I still have some of them but have been buying the CD's to replace them.

IMHO, aside from Adam, I'd have to say Lisa B is the current cast's strongest member. Her acting is great (she nails the ditzy sweetheart bit) and she's got a great belting voice!

Decidedly off-er topic, am I the only one who dislikes the character of Mereb? I just find there's no substance or point to the character, and I tend to roll my eyes through his scenes. (His dialogue's so corny, I find myself hating the actors who have played him, even though I know it's not their fault.)

I also think Mereb's character is pointless and the show could do without him. The guy playing him right now I dont' think is very good either.

I wouldn't go so far as to say Mereb is "pointless," but he is one of the show's weaker characters. The songs I usually skip on the CD are the ones he sings...
