I can't believe he went to Julliard. Do you know he was the youngest person to ever be admitted to Julliard? I don't think he is that good of an actor at all. Or if he is, I haven't seen a movie with him in it that shows his Julliard acting ability.

Aw man!

>> It will feature a new score with music by Patrick Leonard

WHY? Sheessh.

Okay, folks, head down to Virgin Records and sniff out a copy of this show's original, Les Dix Commandements. It's been playing in Montreal for years, and it's actually a darn good piece of work... with a score that's good enough, thank you, Mr. Producer!

Dancing Hebrew slaves building the pyramids?

Pharoah's magicians and Moses doing a parody of "Anything you can do, I can do better"

A major number as they cross the parted sea?

Moses teaching them the 10 commandments like Maria teaching the Von Trapp children Do-Re-Mi?

*shudders and watches for the bolt of lightning*

Several years ago, Val Kilmer and Jeanne Tripplehorn starred in the Public Theatre's revival of 'TIS PITY SHE'S A WHORE. And received a stunning review from Frank Rich.

Anyone who can score in a Jacobean tragedy has to have some acting talent.

All I know is I can't WAIT to see how they part the Red Sea.

Maybe they can make it into a musical comedy! They can use this old Benny Hill joke:

"Moses must have a REALLY big headache. You can tell by the size of the tablets he's holding!"

Two things -

Yes, it's real. They've been advertising it in LA with billboards and such for quite some time.

And, I saw Mr. Kilmer do HAMLET a few years ago for the Colorado Shakespeare Festival. Yes, he can act. Not to mention that it was a 'punk' version, and the entire cast - especially him - looked VERY good in head-to-toe leather.

Doesn't anyone remember Top Secret, one of his first movies, from the Airplane guys? He played a goofy rock star on tour in East Germany, did a lot of singing and dancing, and he was terrific. Then there was The Doors. Kilmer can't act? Gimme a break.

Val Kilmer really does have a lot of talent. He hasn't always chosen the best projects, but if you watch a film he did 2 years ago called THE SALTON SEA, you'll see what I mean.

i have no problem with Val Kilmer doing a musical. He consistently proves himself to be quite a good actor in his movies. He just tends to choose bad movies a little too often. So he'll probably be OK, but here's my question: does the world need another Bible musical set to a contemporary pop score?

Hey, he's even got experience in the role! I rather liked 'The Prince of Egypt,' too. re: Val Kilmer To Play Moses in 10 Commandments Musical Updated On: 7/8/04 at 10:48 PM

Val Kilmer has an industry-wide reputation for being "difficult". So much so that he hasn't an A movie in quite a while. He's not worth the aggravation apparently. He doesn't choose bad scripts so much as they are probably the best he gets offered these days.

He blew it.

That certainly is intersting. What casting. I can just imagine Rodgers and Hart writing the show. The casting:

Moses: Jack Whiting
Aaron: Hiram Sherman
Pharoah: Dennis King
Miriam: Shirley Booth
Wife of Moses: Vivienne Segal
Mother of Moses: Audrey Christie
Chief Femals Slave: Vera Zorina
Her attendants: Heidi Vosseler, Daphne Vane, Katharine Mullowny
Principal Male Slave: Charles Laskey

Where are the great songwriters when we need them?????

I love Val Kilmer! I agree, his projects after Batman Forever were terrible. This is the guy who was Doc Holiday in Tombstone, Thunderheart, Kill Me Again and of course his awesome portrayel of Jim Morrison in the Doors. I just watched Spartan and again he was wonderful. Do you think Moses would wear black leather? I'd definitely follow him then!

lets just hope that his Julliard training will work better on the stage than on the screen. i really can't help but think they could have got a better actor to play Moses. i mean, if they wanted to get a "name" to play the part they probably could have upgraded a little from Val Kilmer. the last movie i saw him in was The Missing and he was on screen for all of five minutes. Not to say only a big name could do it.

Are there any original ideas coming to Broadway?? Or are they are just movies?!
