Fascinating that Dennis Patrick co-wrote and had a role in this. His acting credits were extensive. I was a fan of his on the original Dark Shadows and later on Dallas.
I attended the first Saturday morning show at Radio City Music Hall this past weekend to see a friend who has been a Rockette for eight years. The show had technical difficulties at the beginning of the finale number that uses the drones and had to stop for five minutes. She said that it's been happening a lot this season. We never did see the drones, just the dance portion of that closing number.
I'll preface this by saying that I adore B.D. Wong. I have only left at intermission once in my 50+ years of theater going and that was during his one man show Herringbone. I felt horribly embarrassed for him and just couldn't sit through a second act.
The current house in CT is small at 1,800 square feet. She's said that the SC house is really her primary residence now. Of course, War Paint necessitated being in NY and CT.
I don't fully understand the comments about it not feeling cohesive. It's her love letter to Broadway. They're songs she likes and wanted to sing. That's the cohesion.
