I just finished reading the Sunday paper and was so pumped to see some new info. about "Brooklyn". There is going to be an announcement this week that the show will premiere on Broadway on October 21, 2004! It's expected to call either the Barrymore, Golden, or Broadhurst theater its home. The good news is that Eden Espinosa (Brooklyn) and David Jennings (Streetsinger) are locked in to star. Jeff Calhoun hopes that the rest of the cast who premiered the show in Denver, Lee Morgan (Taylor), Ramona Keller (Paradice), and Karen Olivo (Faith) who played Mimi in "Rent", will also reprise their roles in the show! The article also stated that the costumer for the show, Tobin Ost, is almost guaranteed to be a Tony nominee. You'll understand why when you see the show.
Anyway, I just wanted to share...guess who's planning his next trip to NY in the fall...

The street performers are performing the story in the present time, yes. The setting is a street corner under the Brooklyn Bridge. The reason that the costumes are so amazing is because of their creativity. The street performers use everyday items and/or trash for their costumes to tell the story of Brooklyn. If you want to see a truly inventive, imaginative show with traditional themes intertwined in it, you should go see "Brooklyn"!
