Hi all. Just tried out for a local production of the King and I. I have only seen parts of the movie, and never seen the show, so I was wondering if you could help me out. Besides Anna, what female roles are there in this show? Leads, supporting, ensemble, obscure people standing at the side of the stage (this is probably my best bet), you get the point. Thanks!!!!!!!!!

Well, all women in the show except for Anna are asian. The only other women in the show are the king's wives, the main role of these is the head wife, I forget her name, and Tuptim, who is a gift to the king. Then, there are the female princesses. But other than that, they are men. There are only four parts in the show that aren't asian, Anna, her son, the sea captain, and some random guy who comes from England who is in love with Anna, forget his name.

There's the British women who come to the palace for the banquet, but those are strictly walk-on roles.

Thanks guys! I didn't think there were that many women in it, but being that I've never seen the show I couldn't be sure.

It's actually Lady Thiang.

And you haven't lived till you've seen an all-white high school production.

Hilarious.

I saw an all-gay production where they called her "Lady Thong". It didn't make sense to me.

In the reading copy of the show, there are several Amazon slaves (sort of the king's body guards). How tall are you, Eponine?
