Just thought to express my thoughts on the passing of yet another great Broadway actor. Last seen in the touring production of Jesus Christ Superstar, Carl Anderson,58 has lost his battle to leukemia.
Carl was suffering some leg pain and during the run last fall and thought it to be a form of arthritis. Upon further testing they discovered a serious form of leukemia . Fellow Superstar actor and good friend Danny Zolli was asked to fill his Judas shoes for a while. Few people knew about the seriousness of his condition at the actors request. A pain that some carried with Carl.
I am personally saddened to hear of his death as are all of his friends and family. A great actor who always gave his best onstage. He will be missed.
Sorry, I didn't know the other post was about Carl. I did a group posting right after I got a call from a friend. Meantime, I was encouraged by the thoughts on his website. Perhaps his friends and fans would like the link.
I love his duet with Linda. I want to play it at my wedding someday. Of course, I have to meet the guy and then hopefully SF will still be passiong out the wedding certificates to "those kinds of people"
Ever since I was a little girl I have loved sitting on the couch with my father and watching Jesus Christ Superstar... I personally have felt a deep love of both his and Ted Neely's performance.... He is the voice I have really loved to listen to in that role...I am truly saddened and wish his family well... I shall truly miss what he could have further contributed to the world.
Carl, may you finally be at peace..."so long Judas"
"Even if I could let you see me cry you would never understand what I was feeling inside, you see it and use it but dont believe in it..."
Many in and out of theater, have shared their thoughts about Carl. He touched many, many people. Just to clarify a point, the seriousness of Carl's condition was not public knowledge. Those who knew were asked to respect his wishes to keep it quiet. I hope this clears some things.
There's some very nice things that Sebastian Bach posted on his website at http://www.sebastianbach.com regarding working with Carl in JCS. Taking the situation of his departure into consideration, which is better left at peace also, I think Sebastian is to be complimented for rising to the occassion to praise a great cast member.
pretty much most of sebastians fans are under the impression sebastian and carl were very close, dont tell them otherwise, we wouldnt want to burst their bubbles too much.
Fans often place their heroes in high places. And high profile performers are often "high emotion and high maintance". Bach has made a generous statement about a fellow performer. That's about as high as I want to go with this. Happy thoughts!
