I love her in the Joseph video! But maybe that is just because she makes me laugh...

Maria Friedman is one of the all time great performers in musical theater - not least of all due to her amazing versatility. There are few performers who can give convincing performances in roles as diverse as Dot in "Sunday in The Park With George", Roxie in "Chicago", Mary in "Merrily We Roll Along" and Fosca in "Passion". I have seen her a number of times and always been blown away by her performance. I felt she should have won an Olivier Award for her role in "Witches Of Eastwick" ahead of Joanna Riding (not that Ms Riding's was not a great performance, but I thought Ms Friedman was even better). I have been an avid fan of musical theater for almost 40 years and I rank her performance in "Passion" as one of the 3 greatest performances I have ever seen anywhere.

She was outstanding in "Ragtime" and I think it would have been a travesty if she had not won an Olivier for this role.
