Delightful to finally make an account on here. Question for anyone: I'm a dance teacher and have developed a musical theatre program for a specific dance studio setting. Although I have musical theatre experience, most of my expertise is in dance. Was wondering if any of you could think of some scenes from any musical theatre show with dialogue that would be good for teenage girls to start exploring and practicing acting and script work?
I would be very grateful for any and all responses! Thank you!!
Mean Girls would be a good place to start. It's got a lot of roles for girls, it's something your students will be interested in, and the MTI script has a bunch of approved edits to make it age appropriate for a teenage class.
Some really great plays I remember dipping my toes into were 'Our Town' and 'A Doll's House,' but some contemporary choices--13 the musical is GREAT for teens, Grease, Mary Poppins
