I was also at the closing performance and the snacks really struck me, was a fun in-theme bonus coming out of Act II. Is providing water/snacks something LCT often does or was it specifically for this production or for the closing performance?
For the play itself, I’m really glad I got to see it! I was supposed to last week when the performance was canceled and almost didn’t reschedule but was able to squeeze yesterday in. I’m still very confused but I found it funny, enjoyable, and interesting. Act I started out amazing but felt like it went on a bit too long. (fully agree with the Gabby Beans praise). Act II was visually amazing but it felt very long and I didn’t really get much out of it. Act III was great. Rereading this whole thread was interesting, I didn’t mind the campiness (I don’t know if this is the best word to describe it) of some of the parts because I felt like the meta moments were where the entire play was in a way. There were some takeaways from the actual play part, but it felt like all the meat was in the fourth wall breaks. I wonder if I would’ve gotten more out of the actual play if it was done differently, but I wasn’t unsatisfied with what I got at all.
Where were the snacks? Were they at the bar? I somehow missed them entirely.
