I rushed today. Got to the theater at 4:45, no one was there. Next person came at around 6ish. By 8 there were around 15-20 people. I think by 10 there were probably 30-40 people. I scored two back row orchestra seats (best available). The next best available were two orchestra seats on row A (partial viewing). Hope this helps. It's cold, dress warmly.

In an article from Variety today profiling Hugh Jackman, it said

"He even knows the name of one of his fans (Annette), who has seen “The Music Man” 115 times, casually bringing her up in conversation as if she’s a member of his inner circle."

115 times!?! At $200/ticket that would be $23,000!

That Variety cover story on Hugh Jackman was quite an original & beautifully written actor profile by Ramin Setoodeh ( co-editor in chief of Variety) but whose first encounter with Broadway as a 21 year old was seeing The Boy From Oz 5 times laugh

https://variety.com/2022/film/features/hugh-jackman-dad-death-the-son-wolverine-1235413831/amp/

It is a very long read but very interesting, as Hugh was very candid in sharing his journey as an actor and performer.

The focus was on his most recent film acting journey in THE SON...and some insights on his return to his iconic role as Wolverine. It seems that he has started the physical build up for the superhero role - causing the costumers of The Music Man some worries every time he needs to have his costumes altered. LOL!

I too would also like to know the likelihood of this as I am also going to be in the city for work in Novemeber and don't get off until after 4pm.

Wanted to update this thread with my experience.  I got to the box office around noon on a Thursday and asked the box office if they happened to have any single rush tickets left, and they did.  I got a partial view ticket in orchestra row D, extreme left.  There were a number of things I missed, but it was worth it to see Hugh and Sutton.

Not a rush update, but saw a post on Reddit saying it looks like they may have extended a couple weeks,  & sure enough tickets are now on sale on Telecharge until Jan 15

I wonder when they announced it?  If you check the seating charts, quite a number of seats have already been taken for January 15, 2023.  Top price is now $ 818!

Rushed the show today.  Got there at 8am, and there were about 20 people ahead of me.  By the time the box office opened at 10am, the line was around the block.  Since it's a 2 show day, I got a single rush ticket for the matinee - row P, seat 115 - center orchestra for $49.  Can't beat that!

Max posted on Instagram that he’s going on for Harold Hill tonight. Also, Sutton is on vacation.

I was lucky to have been at the first performance of Hugh Jackman on his return from a few days with throat issues. The entrance applause was very long and sounded like an affectionate welcome from the crowd!

in return, Hugh’s performance was extraordinary - as he  showed a joy of performing that was inimitable! He was playful, scintillating, with his charisma in full spades! He even tickled Sutton and in those break-that 4th wall moments he created his own funny dance movements (not a Carlyle trademark) to express his joy and wonderment. He was in top form all throughout! He sounded a little raspy but far better compared to the clip   he shared on the way to the theatre.

I was lucky to be in an excellent seat (2nd row-108) which is slightly elevated and could see everything perfectly.

there was also a return of the auctions featuring his straw boaters ( 1 he said was worn in the 1st act &the other from the 2nd act -Ha!). One was bought for usd 20,000 & the other for usd 11,000.

I read that Ben & J-Lo were in the audience & I heard later on that it was Ben who put in the bid for usd 20,000!

Wonderful experience in the theatre, with a perfect communion between performer and audience!

I rushe yesterday (11/25), went there at 8.30 and I was 22th on the queue. The line doubled by 9.15am. Managed to got 2 tickets for 8pm performance in the box. I believed 4 people after me didn't get the 8pm tickets but got the 2pm one.

After the show, a man bid his hat at 50k for donation. But he gave 3 hats for the 3 highest people at 50k, 30k, and 25k. So total donation~100k. Updated On: 11/26/22 at 08:53 PM

The following evening (Nov 26), someone matched the 100 k , on her own!

Hugh’s co-star &  fellow Aussie, Nicole Kidman donated the amount!

Arrived today (11/30, two show day) at 7:15 and was tenth in line. The eleventh person came about a minute after me. Will continue updating as more people join!

Thanks everyone for the useful info here!

To add my own data point — rushed today, arrived at 6:45 and was 2nd in line (first guy said he came at 5:45). People behind me showed up around 7, and there were maybe 10 people around 7:30

Updating my data points from today as well. The twelfth person arrived around 7:25, the next two together at 7:40, and the next (15th total in line) at 7:48. The line was 20 people long by 8:15, 28 people long by 8:45, and about 35 people long by 9:30. I got a single seat for the matinee - orchestra right, M-8. Great seat! I’m excited for it. :)

Has anyone rushed recently? Thinking about rushing this Wednesday or Friday and wondering if it's really worth getting on a 5:18 train to get there by 6:00 am.

Bumping.

I am also curious what happens to the premium orchestra seats that go unsold. I noticed there are dozens still available for the 12/26 evening show. Does anyone know if the box office will sell them at a lower rate prior to curtain? Do they simply go unsold?

Someone I know says that she notices that they will drop prices ( not sure if it is for ALL premium tickets) on the same day as the performance and she has gotten excellent seats this way ( because where she lives is easily accessible to Winter Garden). If you have already purchased a less expensive seat and found one premium seat at a discounted price on the day of the performance, maybe you can call Telecharge-Customer Service or even go to the Box Office ( to save on fees) and ask if you can cancel the other ticket so you can buy the discounted seat. But they will usually ask you to buy the premium seat before the less expensive one first - so they can make sure you are actually effecting an exchange.

Usually they will lower the prices, but not substantially.

Sometimes they would give those premium seats to insiders, e.g. those who either worked on the production itself, or are family and friends with the cast and crew.  Other times, premium seats go to those who work on Broadway in general or media or influencers.
