Sad to hear of the passing, aged 87, of legendary restauranteur (and ex of Chita Rivera and Elaine Stritch) Joe Allen. His eponymous W 46th St eatery was/is the ultimate theatrical canteen (I could spend hours looking at the ‘Flop Wall&rsquoR.I.P. Joe Allen, as is the West End outpost. I also loved its sister establishments Orso and Bar Centrale, all located in the same brownstone which Mr Allen lived in the top level of. He’ll be missed. 2021 really has to start improving.....

I love Joe Allen. Best burger in town and the staff never fails.

When dining there over the years I have fond memories of seeing different celebrities. Hearing Liza cackling in the bar, seeing Carol Burnett dining with a friend and watching tourists stealing Al Pacino’s silverware  after he had paid the bill and left. Fun times....
