Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm finally able to go from overseas to Broadway in november and I've seen that, from the shows that are already selling, none will have performances on Tuesday, November 3rd. Can anyone tell me please why is that? Thank you all so much! :)

Yes, it's Election Day, and, specifically, the presidential election. In 2016, many shows were cancelled, to make it easier for cast, crew, and audience members to vote.

Most shows simply are not selling tickets past September (including huge shows like BOM, Come From Away, and The Lion King). Check back in a couple months, only a few shows are dark on Tuesdays.

Regardless if they’re normally dark or not on Tuesdays, I’d be wary of assuming that most shows WILL have a performance on THAT specific night, given historical fact that presidential election weeks have abnormal performance schedules. If you can plan to arrive that day and start your show-seeing the following day, I’d say that’s a safe bet. Just my two cents.

The 2016 presidential election was a very contentious race and the Broadway League and the city of New York were very concerned that if things went badly there could be rioting in Times Square that evening. If that happened it would trap many theatergoers and cast and crew members in the area so they decided it would be better to give the option to cancel all of the shows that evening. Not all of them canceled but most of them did. They have decided to go the same route this year as well.

That makes a lot of sense. There could be a lot of negative things going on.
