Hello so i just played mimi in rent and my friend who played mark showed me this video. It was a song called Do a Little Business from Rent when it was in workshop. Than i found an entire playlist of all the songs they used. I tried to dig up dirt on it. And i cant find anything. Almost all the songs are changed or cut in that version. And listening to it know there is a very Erie tone. My question is...does anyone know anything about the cut songs changed songs or even cut characters? Like in the original voicemail one there was a guy talking and was alison a character? I find this all so fascinated and Rent is just layered and layered with fascinating things...so if anyone knows anything about what happened with the workshop please let me know.

I actually prefer the workshop to the final production... I'm sure someone on here knows where to find it now, I got my copy on eBay like 17 years ago.

Yeah, I have it.  It's pretty interesting as a writer to hear the progress of the show. "Take Me or Leave Me" hadn't been written yet, and a lot of Benny's stuff was pretty bad.

I did just that, and found it incredibly ironic that the judge's name was Kaplan!  Wasn't that the name of the restaurant-goer in Tick, Tick, Boom??  I can hear Amy Spanger's voice raspily mimicking it, asking for a smoking table... "K-A-P-L-A-N, Kaplan".  It's very "Art Vandelay", haha!
