So I saw Anastasia at Segerstrom Center yesterday in Costa Mesa! Its beautifully staged, empowering, nostalgic and musically spectacular. Lila Coogan and Jake Levy make excellent Anya and Dimitri. The choreography is so much fun. The train sadly didnt move why they stopped in the middle of Act One for a few minutes. Didnt mess up things though
I love the show and I've been fortunate to see it several times both on Broadway and on tour.
Lila is a wonderful Anya and I'm very glad to hear Jake is good as Dmitry as I loved Stephen Brower (the original tour Dmitry). I also love Tari Kelly as Countess Lily as she's absolutely divine, but the whole tour company is outstanding.
I had a similar snafu happen on Broadway, but it didn't detract from the show after they adjusted everything.
I can't wait till the tour makes its way back to the East Coast so I catch it again.
"Anybody that goes to the theater, I think we’re all misfits, so we ended up on stage or in the audience.” --- Patti LuPone.
Saw this a couple of weeks ago in Tempe, AZ and I agree. I loved the production and thought the projections were stunning, especially in "Once upon a December". It made the stage feel huge and made set changes powerful and instantaneous. Lila Coogan was outstanding. She got a huge ovation at the end of Act I with Journey to the Past. I liked Jake Levy a lot as Dimitry, but vocally felt like he couldn't hold a candle to Derek Klena.
The only negative for me was Gleb...I felt his performance was pretty rough, bordering on "can he find the note" funny. Would have loved to have seen Ramin Karimloo perform this role in the OBC.
