I am wanting to bring my 13 year old daughter to the call on Oct. 23rd.  However, she is non-equity as she has never done an equity show.  How early should she arrive and I suppose it's possible she could not even be seen.

Same story with me. I’m 15 but I’ve done these kind of things before. I would bring them as early as they start, and if they have time at the end they usually will bring the non equity people to audition, but yes it’s possible that we could not be going in.

You will never know until day of. I’d think something like this, which is high profile, will have a big a turn out and therefore Non-Union won’t get seen.

If you don’t have an agent I wouldn’t even bother.

I've never been to an ECC, but I've been to plenty of EPAs as a non-equity person. I don't know if they run ECCs differently, but for an EPA, they won't even begin giving the leftover slots to non-equity people until they get through all of the people on the equity waitlist ("equity alternates"Music Man Chorus Call, THEN get through the entire EMC list (which is usually a lot, especially for big shows - sometimes well over 100 per day). As a non-equity person, I've been turned away far more often than not. A lot of the time, there are so many equity people auditioning that they won't even see EMCs, let alone non-eq.

Now, since I've never been to an ECC, I don't know if maybe they take people in larger groups and thereby raise your likelihood of being seen. Someone else would have to chime in on that to give you accurate info.

So what can an agent/manager do for you? My daughter has a manager in nyc but was told there is nothing she can do to get her seen since she has no jurisdiction over the union. Am I missing something?

She could submit her for an appointment.

ECCS are Union and that’s it. EMC are non-Union at an ECC. So once they get through all the Equity members, time permitting, they might see the rest.

I've been told that if you're not Equity, you should arrive as early as humanly possibly to guarantee even the chance of being seen.

Assuming that this is the call where they are specifically seeking performers under the age of 18 I would say all bets are off. It's very rare to run an ECC with that restriction in place, so there's not a lot of history to draw from regarding what expected attendance will be. That being said, considering the scale of this project, I would still expect it to be very well attended and as a non-Equity actor you should plan to get there as early as possible to make sure your daughter is as high as possible on the non-Equity list.
