I'm glad it wasn't as long as previous years, and I'm happy with most of the winners. My only bummers were THE VOICE over RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE and Alec Baldwin over Tituss Burgess.
Still lots of shows which got snubbed for nominations: CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND, ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, ONE DAY AT A TIME, Robin Wright for HOUSE OF CARDS, SPEECHLESS.

Why were Kate McKinnon and Alec Baldwin nominated in the acting categories for comedy series while their show SNL was placed in the best variety sketch series?

Was I dreaming or was Robin Wright nominated? I'm sure I heard her name announced as one of the nominees in her category last night.
Robin Wright was very much was nominated. Presenters even made a joke about her character being the "spoiler alert... the 47th President of the Unites States".
I personally loved the announcer. I agree that he was at times over-the-top but it was refreshing to hear a different approach to announcements. It's been at least 16 years (I saw 2001 Tonys the other day) of monotonous Siri-like voice doing all of that announcing and I feel it's about time we got some energy in there. It's a huge portion of the actual program and it's surprising not more people have played around with it before.

I was very happy for Big Little Lies and The Handmaid's Tale. If you have not seen either one don't miss them. I also was thrilled for the lead actor for The Night Of. Another superb show.
I don't remember the last time I watched the Emmys. The fact that Tatiana hasn't won for every season of Orphan Black (much less lose to Julianna Marguiles for Good Wife) or that Connie Britton never won for Friday Night Lights makes me wonder how it all even works.
