Ironically, Hamiltonian’s inclusivity is so attractive that it’s made the show exclusive. The very audience meant to see the show is once again limited by the price point as tickets have skyrocketed to $500 in some cases. There’s a price to pay for being the biggest hit on Broadway, and apparently it’s half your monthly rent.

While this isn’t the fault of “Hamilton”’s producers, who are simply offering tickets at the price people are willing to pay, it does complicate the show’s sense of cultural and class diversity. Miranda has battled against this problem by offering free sidewalk mini-performances before Wednesday and Saturday shows.

Article fails to mention the 21 $10 lottery tickets that's open to everyone. If the show has truly become exclusive for the top 2%, then that lottery wouldn't even exist.

Thank you! Bad as I am at online forums, I was still taken aback how people took my words to mean the opposite of what I intended.

Anyway, I lived "In the Heights" for a couple years a long time ago, and I kind of doubt that my old neighbors and Miranda's are shelling out $850 a pop for tickets. Like OldBlueEyes's quote puts it: "Ironically, Hamiltonian’s inclusivity is so attractive that it’s made the show exclusive." It must be a really strange phenomenon for the performers and especially frustrating for Miranda.

Sadly I think most folks in the "In The Heights" income bracket who have Hamilton tickets  on or before July 9th may choose to resell those tickets for an insane higher price than see Lin-Manuel Miranda perform on that show.

Really?   What a ridiculous thing to suggest.  And even it's true, why would that be sad?

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

How is it ridiculous? It could be of any race -- all I stated was the income bracket.

To me, as an avid theater goer, it's sad people would rather resell their tickets rather than see it with OBC because of the allure of how much $$$ they can make from selling tickets on stubhub or Ticketmaster resale. In other words, just goes to show how it's all about $$$ in today's American society.

To each his own though. No one is breaking the law.

I said nothing about race.

Your assumption that any group of people are all selling their tickets is what's ridiculous.

That being said.....the vast majority of theater goers could care less about seeing  the original cast - they want to see the show itself.  There have been countless times when replacements have been as good as, and even better.

Are there folks that are spending ungodly amounts of money to do so? Sure, but they are in the minority. If the show isn't going to be as good with new players, then it's not that good of a show.

i agree that is ridiculous but I never said 'all'...  I said 'most'... To me there is a difference between those words so not sure why you assumed that. Hamilton ticket prices-seriously?

Actually this is what I wrote to be clear:
