Going by this reaction, do people really think BC/EFA would make as much money if the cast signed one poster, and then they just printed them all off as signed for up to $200 each?

Despite what people think the purpose of the autograph is, or the legal definition, it seems hard to dispute that far less people would buy these posters if they were all stamped or pre-printed with all the signatures. They make hundreds of thousands of dollars at each show selling items "signed by the cast," so that sort of needs to be what they then sell.

As someone who does buy BC/EFA posters and tries to avoid stagedooring as much as possible, I know for a fact I wouldn't have bought the unsigned posters themselves or any faux-signed posters during the campaign. I'd just toss a few bucks in the bucket on my way out the door and be done with it...

Sure. I want to know what you find more offensive: the fact that it's a stamped signature or the fact that she lied about it. I cannot figure out which has Darrey more upset.

This isn't about darrey, deadhandband. You might want to try to MAKE it about him in order to make yourself feel like less of a troll (or more of one, I can't decide) but the thread is about the topic, not who started it. And I think deep down, you know that.

I really don't understand what's so ridiculous about the question. All I'm asking is what makes you more upset. The fake signature or the lying about it....

Isn't the fake signature and the lies all one thing? Once you're onstage saying spend $100 (or whatever Cinderella asked) and get a posted signed by the cast, or $40 (or whatever) and get a Playbill signed by Carly and Fran... the fake signature and the lie (that it was signed) are all combined, no?

Where did Liza's Headband claim to be retiring? Missed that one.

One last comment on this thread, and then I'm done

As someone else pointed out, a stamp is considered a signature. Documents can be "signed" via stamp, although it's not recommended because stamps can be stolen (I think the limited exceptions are certain tax documents which cannot be stamped by a company representative). Anyhow, if Fran said she "signed" the Playbills, guess what? She did. Stamp or pen, doesn't matter-- it counts as a signature. Maybe not the kind an autograph collector would want, but it is "signed," and her statement about it was not a lie.
