A few shows were holding out for the nominations- do we think a lack of nominations will mean some shows posting closing notices?

How long will Bridges of Madison County last?

I'd imagine BRIDGES and Velocity will post closing notices very soon.

Bridges yes

Autumn did not expect more than what they got. Can they hang on until their scheduled closing date in August? No idea

"Will Bullets post a notice soon maybe?"

They just made $956k in ticket sales last week, so.... no.

Bridges for sure, Rocky showed some strength at the BO last week when the tourist were in so it should have a good summer. Bullets is starting to hold its own and could build the same way Beautiful did. Have to see what the noms do for After Midnight and Gentleman's Guide who were both treading water. It will be interesting to see when shows do close which of the other shows get a bump. Too much product this year.

I think Bridges' days are numbered, sadly, although I have to wonder if they'll try to stick it out so voters can hear the score live and see Kelli O'Hara.

Gentlemen's should be helped the most by this. Rocky to a lesser extent

It is a shame Bridges is the Rodney Dangerfield of musicals but when you have piss poor marketing this is to be expected.

Glad we saw Mothers & Sons Sunday as it may start disappearing from the reduced price sites soon.

Hard to take the committee seriously after today.

Agreed. Everything the Tony Committee ever did made perfectly logical sense right up until yesterday.

Marketing courses should show students an example of how not to Market a show and use Bridges as an example.

Worst marketing of a show I have ever seen in my life. The marketers should be boiled in oil.

A shame as the show deserved a much better fate. At least we have a recording of the score and it will live on in regional productions.

I can't believe I'm actually agreeing with Roxy on something. What's next? Joining a militia?

I have no opinion on BRIDGES the show itself; haven't seen it. But, yes, the marketing - or at least the branding - was dreadful. In general, with some bright exceptions, Serino/Coyne seems to be slipping quite a bit this season. I wonder if they've had a lot of turnover in the last couple of years.

Without defending BRIDGES and it's piss-poor marketing, let's not get hyperbolic.

It wasn't even the worst marketing in this city this spring (that would be the catastrophic failure of the remounting of A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN at the Gramercy, which literally imploded the production with utter lack of sales.)

Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.

To Horse

Hate to break the news to you but I am not, nor have I ever been nor do I have any intention of joining a militia.

I no longer do political posts ( as people here do not favor divergent views) so this is as close to one you will ever see.

On Broadway and it is Broadways loss

It proves there is no room on Broadway for thought provoking shows. We just want flash and dazzle.

It will live on with the cd and numerous regional productions. Big Fish suffered a similar fate earlier in the season.

I would have loved if BRIDGES was a thought-provoking show. Instead, it was emotional and musical flash and dazzle.

Rhapsodic music sung by cardboard characters from the cover of a romance novel!

To each his own

Bridges is the best musical of the season by far. This is a tragedy if it closes so soon.

jnb, I cannot speak for HorseTears but I believe he/she was commenting more on the creative quality, direction, and overall branding of the BRIDGES marketing campaign. Not the lack of a presence. In fact, quite the opposite. I cannot watch a YouTube video or visit a theatre themed website without seeing a BRIDGES commercial/ad.

As I said a few weeks ago, it was confirmed to me that they had enough money to hold them through the nominations from a new group of investors (and two loans). So they were either able to pool together more money or they'll make an announcement within the next few days.
