I'm going to Twelfth Night again this evening, and I'm very excited! I wanted to commend this production for two things: First off, making 250 seats available, per performance, for a mere $25 is so totally fricking wonderful, I can't express myself. It's not a huge theater, and for producers to do that, to enable people who ordinarily wouldn't be able to attend, is awesome. So, bravo and brava to you! Also, whoever did the online marketing is genius. I see ads for Twelfth Night/Richard III wherever I go online. It's not obtrusive, it's not obnoxious, in-your-face annoying. They're just small, quiet ads that burrow into your subconscious, "here we are, again" type of thing. Bravo and brava to you guys, too! And of course the production is top-notch. I'm looking forward to Richard III too, although I may have to watch while covering up my eyes. Welcome to New York City, Globe Theater!

I'm not sure if this has been answered or not (I might be confusing references to the "top tier" of stage seating with the "balcony" seats) but has anyone sat in the balcony for this show? How is the view? I'd rather buy online now instead of rushing in the cold in the morning, just want to know if they're greatly (if at all) obstructed!

Saw Twelfth Night tonight. My fourth Broadway show on my NY trip. Had a marvelous time. I know that After Eight got a good going over for his response to Rylance's performance. The funny thing is, I don't think that his description of Rylance's performance is that inaccurate and yet I thoroughly enjoyed it. I think this has all been covered but...

Stephen Fry - a childhood hero of mine (grew up on Fry & Laurie and Black Adder as a kiddo). It was great fun to see him on stage. Especially enjoyed his "yellow tights" scene. He gave a very fine performance, but I think he will always be more of a personality than a great actor, but hey, if this is stunt casting, I want more of it!

Paul Chahidi - His Maria was a thing of joy. He almost stole the show away from Rylance. After this, I would see him in anything.

Angus Wright was wonderfully dopey as Sir Andrew.

Colin Hurley's Sir Toby Belch was amusing, but actually felt a bit restrained. I wish he'd been a bit... earthier if that makes any sense.

Rylance - so thrilled to finally see Rylance on stage (seen all of his film work). He didn't disappoint. I can see why some may find his performance a bit disruptive. I found it enchanting and funny. It may not be the most subtle Viola you've seen, but boy is it a fun one. And, yes, the way he glid across the stage was both very amusing and beautiful to watch. His costumes especially were just gorgeous. I had reservations about seeing an all male cast with minimal set and lighting. Glad I took the chance. I now wish I was staying long enough to see the same cast do Dicky III.

One quick note on seating. I was in the rear row of the mezzanine on an aisle seat (for which the aisle was to my right). If you can find any of the rear mezz tickets, these are some of the less expensive full price tickets available. But, be aware that if you have a seat like mine, you will have a rather awkward experience. There is a step down toward the aisle in the middle of your seat, so effectively your left foot is perched one level higher than your right. I found it uncomfortable and constantly had to shuffle my feet. But, it was so worth it!

How soon before showtime do they appear onstage to start changing?

They are there from when the house opens till places is called before curtain.

Cool, thanks. 30 extra minutes of Stephen Fry works for me, I'll get there early for a change and not my usual 5 minutes to curtain arrival, heh. Well, I'm on stage, so I had to pad that a little to begin with anyway... Twelfth Night First Preview

UPDATE: Wow, what a fun, magical night. Even got from front row of the stage, to the second person at the stage door without incident, and Mr. Fry was nice, delightful, and signed everything for everyone, even personalized the inscription on my book.
