With Motown doing solid business, who would of thought this would of been the Lunt-Fontanne first legitimate hit in years and Cinderella doing great business. With Annie anticipated to slow down once again, My Fair Lady has got that one in the bag, that only leaves the Marquis dark, which won't be for too long as it is going to get a holiday filler show, followed by the Bodyguard.
Looks like The Audience will be headed for the Golden Theater next spring with Helen Mirren, but sooner than that Merrily We Roll Along will get the Stephen Sondheim for the fall. That only leaves the Curious Dog at the Night Time, not sure on this one if this is going into the Belasco or Lyceum.
A "legitimate hit" in what way? Financially? Critically? A CHRISTMAS STORY did very well financially and critically, despite the limited engagement. So that's a very subjective claim.
I'm not sure where in the world you get this information. The Marquis is expected to be out of service for a bit due to renovations to all the retail shops on the ground level underneath the theatre.
And it is expected that the new Carole King musical will get the Sondheim Theatre. And The Audience probably isn't coming in the Spring.
So... would you like to clarify your information? Do you have actual sources or are you sitting at home with a Broadway monopoly board playing with unverified information? Just curious.
