If you are visiting the DC area, considering buying tickets to see this wonderful production of 'My Fair Lady' at Arena Stage directed by Molly Smith. The show originated at Shaw Festival last year and I would love to hear from people who saw that production and those who have seen the Arena production. Feel free to leave comments on DCMTA or here. Got tickets to this for my birthday, and I can't wait! (Though, as a matter of fact, I have to wait. I'm not going till nearly the end of the run.) I've been hearing a lot of good things about this.
I saw it last Wednesday and thought it was outstanding! The costumes alone are worth seeing it! I thought the whole cast (save for James Saito's Alfred Doolittle) was fantastic.
Fun bit of live theater, during "Just You Wait" as Manna Nichols was pushing a chair on stage, the chair broke in half. Everyone in the audience was laughing, Nichols started laughing, and then continued on beautifully. Ah live theater.
It was really well done, definitely a must see for those in the area!
"I've never encountered such religiously, you know, loyal fans as Broadway musical theater fans. It's amazing."
