Despite the fact that Sherie Rene Scott was 35 when she played Cathy, the character shouldn't really be more than mid-to-late twenties. (Lauren Kennedy was 28 when she originated the role). When the story begins, Jamie is 23 (as alluded to in the lyrics of "Moving Too Fast": "got all this and more / before twenty-four") and Cathy should be in the same age range (23-2. Kendrick is 27 as of today; I'd say as far as age is concerned, she's ideally cast.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body
According to Deadline, Sherie Rene Scott's husband Kurt Deutsch is among the film's producers. Interesting. I wonder if he's tied into the licensing rights for the music because of his work with the original cast album.

Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
