Book & lyrics by Joe Dipietro, music by Jimmy Roberts. Based on Doris Dorrie's German film 'Men'. Directed by Andrew Keates, designed by Martin Thomas, lighting by Howard Hudson.
Men lie to each other, the fools, so much - until they find themselves in ridiculous situations they can’t get out of – living with your wife’s new lover, for example; now there’s a bromance with a twist! Imagine, if you will, having to disguise your identity in front of your own wife...ridiculous, just ridiculous!
This show ran at the Beacon Theatre on upper Broadway in New York - where they now hold the Tony Awards - for over a year back in '03/'04. I used to walk past it all the time and never went in!! Since then I have listened to and enjoyed the OCR so I'm thrilled to finally reconnect with it. Thank you, Landor.
Love the score. Have booked to see it at the Landor on June 2nd. Can't wait!

Saw the matinee of this today - a smart, funny and ultimately quite affecting show with an excellent five person cast and a production up to the usual Landor standards. It's that rare case when the book and lyrics (the prolific Joe DiPietro) outshine the music (Jimmy Roberts). It's only playing a short run and it's well worth the trip to Clapham North.
Side note; I have seen no announcement but an ad in the programme proclaims that Kander and Ebb's "Curtains" is getting its European premiere at the Landor, July 25 to September 1.
We saw this on Friday and loved it. Steven Webb & Lucyelle Cliffe in multiple roles totally steal it. I am with Mallardo though, as the songs are a wee bit forgettable, but it really is a first class production. I adore the Landor. I have blogged about it, but just to warn you it really is more of a diary than a review, so may be a bit self-indulgent. The Thing About Men
