BROADWAY AND POP STAR LINDA EDER REUNITES WITH COMPOSER FRANK WILDHORN ON NEW SONY MASTERWORKS ALBUM

Linda Eder, Drama Desk-winning star of Jekyll & Hyde and one of the great contemporary voices of our time, crowns her two-decade recording career by reuniting with prolific Broadway and pop composer Frank Wildhorn on a new album, Now, from Sony MASTERWORKS. The new release marks the musical return of this legendary team after six years, and it's the album Linda's legion of fans have been waiting for. Produced by Wildhorn, Eder , and Jeremy Roberts, the recording will be released in CD and digital formats on March 1, 2011....

Eder's transcendent voice is the perfect complement to Wildhorn's lush, imaginative music. The dozen mostly brand-new songs on Now elevate the spirit while capturing many moods. Song like the romantic "No Finer Man," to the gutsy "Not Gonna Fall This Time," sit comfortably with the gentle samba of "What Did You See Inside the Stars," and the ethereal title track “Now.” Also on the album is “Mad Hatter” from Wildhorn’s much anticipated Broadway Musical Wonderland. In creating these gems, Frank Wildhorn collaborated with many of the acclaimed lyricists he has worked with over the years—Leslie Bricusse (Jekyll & Hyde), Don Black (Sunset Boulevard), Maury Yeston (Nine), and others.

Eder is thrilled to work with Wildhorn again after years of expanding her repertoire in concert and on disc, including recordings of country-pop and movie songs. "My road led me on a journey of musical growth that allowed me to discover more of who I really am as a singer," she says. "I always knew that Frank and I would work together again one day and this album is the result."

The concert stage remains a mainstay of Eder ’s career and she has performed for sold-out crowds across the country. Following the release of Now, she'll begin a series of concerts that will take her from coast to coast, performing at such prestigious venues as Town Hall in New York and Symphony Hall in Boston .

I hope she's in better voice here than on that Hallelujah Broadway CD.

I'm told this is going to be a fantastic album, one of Linda's best.

Roxy - here's what I know:

7. Mad Hatter - WONDERLAND. A New Alice. A New Musical. (she performed this in Vienna)
8. A Woman In His Arms - THis is from Camille Claudel, a somber, reflective song
10. What’s Never Been Done Before - From Camille Claudel
12. Living in the Shadow - This is Frank's big song from Victor/Victoria (in concert he usually sings this partly with the performer!)

Linda's on Frank's latest concept album, TEARS OF HEAVEN, which was just released on Sound of Music I believe.

A lot of original songs are on here too, obviously, from her usual collaborators such as Jack Murphy (who wrote songs for Linda such as "This Time Around" (from the upcoming Havana!), and Maury Yeston ("The Bells of St. Paul")).

I'm surprised she didn't record "Where Do Broken Hearts Go?" (from Whitney Houston), as she performed that in Vienna. And of course, it baffles me how she hasn't recorded "Finding Wonderland," which is bound to be the next Wildhorn "staple" or something from Bonnie & Clyde, which has no public recordings available!

husk_charmer: Linda hates flying... Whenever she flies somewhere (such as Wildhorn & Friends in Vienna this past year) I always feel her voice isn't as strong, but she hasn't lost it. She's still got it... I'm sure she has it on this recording!

On a side note, "CAMILLE CLAUDEL" will be performed in Japan later this year (not starring Eder, unfortunately). I don't care what anyone says - this had to have been a musical based around Eder's talents, and will also be retitled "GOLD" from what I understand. Regardless, I would call this Wildhorn's best score (with lyrics by Nan Knighton, of THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL). Emotionally heavy, musically fantastic, and great staging presented back in 2003, and will finally be seen again. You can hear the entire demo on Nan Knighton's website, featuring Eder!

A true shame that Camille has not made it to Broadway yet...

BettyBoy, were the signed copies a limited offering? I don't see that they are available anymore when I go to her site; all that's listed in a link to buy the regular CD. Am I just missing it?

These are all, for the record, Frank Wildhorn tunes, just not all are from his CDs. A lot of Linda's biggest pop hit singles ("Vienna," "Something to Believe In," etc) were written by Frank but aren't in any of his musicals.

Didn't know B&N was going to do a 15 track one, but I believe "Please Don't Make Me Love You," which is from DRACULA, the musical will be on the other CD as well.

The last two will also be on the soon-to-be-released (English) concept album of "Tears of Heaven," but it's too my understanding that "The First Time I Saw Paris" has been cut from the show itself. Some great tracks on this one, I'm very excited!

"Please Don't Make Me Love You" from Dracula, as of now, is not part of the 12-track non-exclusive release. The original post by "MamasDoin'Fine" gives a thorough description of that release.

Also, "Tears of Heaven" is yet to be released by Sound of Music. The goal is shipment in early February.
