Ha! Someone is posting on the Atlanta board!!! Well, I shall introduce myself, my name is AndAllThatJazz22...but you can call me jazzy (or jazz). I live in East Tennessee some I'm rather close to Atlanta and I will possibly be there in March to make a long awaited trip to go see Spring Awakening. As for local productions, you can always check to see what's playing at the Allience.

I live about 30 minutes outside of Atlanta and I'm glad there's FINALLY an Atlanta board on here.
I don't WANT to live in what they call "a certain way." In the first place I'd be no good at it and besides that I don't want to be identified with any one class of people. I want to live every whichway, among all kinds---and know them---and understand them---and love them---THAT's what I want! - Philip Barry (Holiday)
Does anyone else agree that Atlanta needs a lot more out of town try-outs. What was the last out-of-town tryout Atlanta had?

I live in Atlanta too! Great to have a local board.
The last couple of shows I saw here were 'Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris' and 'Jesus Christ Superstar - The Gospel Version'. Both were at the Alliance Theater and they were AMAZING! I also caught the Broadway tour of 'Hairspray' at the Cobb Energy Center. It was a fabulous tour!
Bway2010 - Theater is generally hit or miss in Atlanta. I usually recommend anything at the Alliance Theater or the Cobb Energy Center. Most of the local shows seem to start their runs in September. I'll keep looking around. Updated On: 7/24/09 at 09:58 PM
I second what lovinlovett has said. It also doesn't hurt to see what's playing at the Fox during your visit. Also check out the Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville. The Aurora is one of the few, small professional theatres in GA, and I believe the only professional theatre in Gwinnett County.
To jazzy: I believe the last tryout production to come through Atlanta was SISTER ACT.

I guess it was technically a World Premier production that hit the East and West coasts of the US, and was used as a tryout/workshop to see what needed fixing before the West End production.
I went to see In The Heights (hip hop musical) last summer in New York, and I never thought I'd be able to see it again. Well, it seems it going to be in Atlanta (my hometown) very very soon! Please click here to vote for me to win tickets. I can't afford to buy them. Thanks so so so much!
