When I was in Chicago a while ago, I went to a show at the Steppenwolf done by a theatrical troupe called 500 Clown. They essentially took literary classics (I saw them do Frankenstein) and 'clown-ify' them, if you will. The show was absolutely hilarious and has stuck with me. I wanted to know if this company operates only out of Chicago, or whether anyone has ever heard of them being in New York.
They're doing a new show at Steppenwolf based on the work of Bertolt Brecht... right now... it's very challenging... with great songs but... apparently with a lot of audience walk outs... but I think that's neat... The do 500 Clown Christmas and 500 Clown Macbeth in addition to 500 Clown Frankenstein... and though based out of Chicago... they do tour the country with their shows... check out their website... there's video and a touring schedule.
