Hasn't she been wanting to do Broadway? Why can't she just play the role on Broadway? Why a whole movie?
"There's nothing good on. The media hates Christmas. The media loves vampires, though. Maybe they will show a Twilight Christmas." -Danmeg's 10 year old son.
Is it just me or is the big news here that the show is opening next season? I thought Whoopi had said multiple times it would be part of the 2009-2010 season?
Really? I thought she totally held her own in DREAMGIRLS and was actually quite excellent in CADILLAC RECORDS.
I think when given strong enough material or a strong enough role, she delivers. She's not gonna win an Oscar any time soon but I don't think she's horrendous by any means.
I find her acting Horrendess, and as much as she says she loves Menken's score, I am sure she wants to write a song or two for her character. This is way so early to even discuss this. What if it isn't a hit on Broadway (I hope it is)? She will change her tune faster than she changes her Mother's costumes in her videos.
Patina Miller, the terrific young American woman who became an overnight star in London in the lead would be majorly pissed if she couldn't do the Broadway role (which would also be a horrible tragedy for Broadway audiences as Beyonce would suck the curtains). I'll be interested in seeing what the producer (Whoopie Goldberg) does about the situation.
Have you people not seen "Obsessed"? That woman is a tour-de-force, and it's a disgrace that she hasn't won multiple Oscars, Tony's, Emmy's, and anything else you can think of!!
Please note the tone.
If/when it comes to Broadway, as long as the casting is right, I'll be seeing it; however, I don't think it needs to be made into another film.
Beyonce is talking about the movie, not the stage show. As for SISTER ACT's prospects on Broadway- they are excellent. While the show probably could use some show doctoring (and new choreography) before making it critic-friendly on Broadway, the score is wonderful and Patina Miller is a star.
"It does what a musical is supposed to do; it takes you to another world. And it gives you a little tune to carry in your head. Something to take you away from the dreary horrors of the real world. A little something for when you're feeling blue. You know?"
