Anyone can edit IMDB though so I would hesitate to trust it. I think I remember seeing Taylor Swift on Les Mis' credits before the official casting news came out.

You're right there. I would only add stuff on IMDB until after an official confirmation is made.

Anyways due to the lack of casting news from D23, I don't think we'll hear who's playing Moana for at least a couple months.

Here's what I'm thinking, if Dinah Jane Hansen doesn't get the part, maybe she could do a cover of one of the songs for the film, like Demi Lovato did for "Let it Go", she could maybe do it as a duet with Opetaia Foa'i, who's contributing to the music.

She seems adorable and she's Pacific Islander too!

she does. strange that we didn't get to hear her singing voice in that video. i guess they want to showcase it when they preview a song snippet later on.

The thing is, besides being an utter toad of a human being, Riedel usually has the least knowledge of the topic in the room. He doesn't usually understand the content or approach of a show, and is always completely and unfailingly socially ignorant, which makes it really infuriating when Susan can't get a word in edgewise. A definitive mansplainer; it's always painful when he has female guests. I watch the show sporadically when I really want to see a guest, because it's the only theatre talkshow we have, but it would be so much better without this hateful clown in a dadcoat. ^IA, though I have no doubt she has a great voice plus her speaking voice sounds like a Disney princess if that makes any sense.

This is the collector in me talking, but I'm just relieved the Disney Store created a unique body type for the Moana dolls. That would have created some anger, if they had a standard Princess body.

I hate her vocal stylings and the production of that song, but I guess that's what audiences wants nowadays!

I'm hoping this is just like Let It Go and the actual song is more popular than the pop cover.

i always prefer the film version to the pop version (especially the Celine Dion songs from the 90's, despite how much i like her as a singer) so it's safe to assume the same in this instance I think.

I actually just listened to How Far I'll Go and it seems like  a good song, I don't know Alessia Cara or her work but she sounds like a Sia ripoff.

I love LMM and Disney and this song.  But for this song in particular I wish they had gotten a Polynesian singer to sing the English part as well as the backing vocals.

My 11 year old Kiwi daughter (huge Hamilton fan) walked over while I was watching the clip and said, "Why's he singing it?"  I think that will be the response from a lot of people from this part of the world.

a lot of people seeing this movie will probably have no clue who he is or care why he's singing that part

Anybody else a little disappointed that it appears as though Phillipa's character doesn't sing? I remember it being a huge piece of news that she had a small part, and maybe the soundtrack just doesn't list her because it's a small solo (similar to Annaleigh Ashford in "Frozen"Disney's Moana (2016) but I was really hoping she sang.

They/them. "Get up the nerve to be all you deserve to be."

Phillipa's part has always been listed as 'villager' so I don't think it was ever meant to be big unfortunately.

Some early reviews in and they're positive!

Definitely true for most of the world.  I should have been more clear. I'm in New Zealand.  This movie has been getting a lot of media attention here.  With issues already being raised by Polynesians (Maui's body size, the brown skin costume) it's not a stretch to think that people here will be interested in who's singing this song.

I don't personally have a problem with Lin singing it.  This clip is beautiful and powerful.  I just think it would be even more beautiful and powerful if the lead vocals were sung by a singer who a) has a stronger voice, and b) is from the culture the song is celebrating.

LMM tweeted that originally he just sang the demo and the plan was to have someone else sing the final version.  But that Disney changed their mind.  I think they should have kept to the original plan.

When I explained to my daughter that LMM was singing because he wrote the song she said, "They should have gotten Stan Walker to sing it instead."  That would have been awesome.
