Erich Bergen posted a tweet saying he has news tomorrow and his hint was “41st Street.” Could he potentially be involved in Some Like It Hot and it could be taking the Nederlander?

It's evidently been removed from the Broadway in Chicago website.

I believe the show announced it will be opening cold on Broadway next fall.

Does anyone have any scoop on what’s happening with Some Like It Hot? Wondering if there’s still a plan for it to open on Broadway this season, or the 2022/2023 season is more realistic now.

Also been wondering whether Megan Hilty was / is in line to play Sugar? I recall just before the lockdown last year she said she was about to work on a new musical, maybe it was that? I could imagine they might want to go for a more mainstream name for Sugar, but Megan would be great.

She is not.  Per one of the press releases: “The character of Sugar—portrayed in the film by Marilyn Monroe—will be reworked as Black, with her racial identity providing more than an opportunity for color-blind casting.”

Oh okay thanks, I hadn’t read that! I’m probably reaching a lot here now lol, but I wonder then maybe if Marisha Wallace might be in line for the role?! She’s friends with Marc (and is singing at an event with him tonight) so has that connection. She also said recently how she’d just heard some amazing career news, and posted a story a few days ago when she was at dinner with Kat McPhee, and Kat was saying how proud and excited she was for what Marisha has coming up. I mean this could relate to anything, but I like random speculation haha

Marisha also just lost quite a great deal of weight, not that she wasn’t stunning before… perhaps it could be partially or totally for work?

lol why would her losing weight have anything to do with playing this role?

They/them. "Get up the nerve to be all you deserve to be."

I wanna stress - i said that as someone with quite too much meat on his ones and who has struggled with weight my entire life, not shaming her in any way, promise.

I just meant actors often lose or gain weight for roles, and I could see producers asking for a “Marilyn” figure. Was just speculating/observing.
