Double post.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Three of the four you listed have been on Broadway.

I agree with posters who identified Christian Bale and Kate Winslet.  How about together in a limited run of A Streetcar Named Desire.  Have to be soon, because Bale is probably getting a little old for Stanley. Can you imagine those two together?

If it resulted in MAME ever happening, I would go for Anne Hathaway as Mame.  I think Emily Blunt would be great as Mame, but another thread said she feels she does not have the voice to do a musical 8 times week, not obvious to me from Mary Poppins Returns, in which her voice seemed strong.  But wither she or Hathaway would get my vote.

All four have been on Broadway, and Theatrefanboy1 did make it clear they were talking about Broadway returns. Cheyenne I would imagine will be back at some point, but I have always been shocked at how long it has been since Streep has been on Broadway.

Michael Emerson. Full stop."

Emerson was on Broadway twice per ibdb. Iceman Cometh in 1999 and Hedda Gabler in 2001-2002

Oh, thank you, gg! I totally misread the thread title. Back when he was filming LOST he talked about how he couldn't wait to get back to doing theater. Then LOST ended and he jumped right into "Person of Interest." He was so marvelous in Eno's WAKEY, WAKEY at Signature two years ago, but I'd love to see him do a Big Juicy Role in a Broadway play revival.

On Charlie Rose Harrison Ford was asked if he would ever consider doing Broadway if the right script came along. Harrison didn't say anything, but the look he gave Charlie could best be described as "Are you out of your mind?"

I'm pretty sure a LOT of people gave Charlie Rose that look.

I do wonder about Meryl Streep. For someone with such a rich history on the stage, I'm surprised that she has stayed away for so long. I mean, she's obviously very in-demand in the film industry, but that hasn't stopped other A-listers from doing Broadway. I'm sure she has her reasons, but I'd be very curious to know what they are. Does anyone know is she's spoken about this is any interviews? When/if she does eventually return to the stage, it's going to be quite an event!

I'll pay to see anybody in pretty much any Broadway show, but I'll choose James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence, together, if possible.

I remember around the time of Doubt an interviewer asked her if she would come back to Broadway, since she had done several stage-to-screen adaptations (Doubt, Mamma MiaAngels in America). She said then that she was excited to do more theatre once all her children had left the house. Now, of course, that's been the case for several years, and she still hasn't done any theatre. I so wish I could have seen her Mother Courage. From the bootleg, her performance in The Seagull just looks astonishing.

My initial thought was that The Cher Show didn't count.  Then, 'Come Back...Jimmy Dean' flashed.  OOPS.

She has been asked this question multiple times over the last ten years and it’s always reported back that she wants desperately to come back to Broadway. When asked what type of show. She has said that she would like to take on a new play. But then nothing ever seems to mount. I mean I’d take her in nightmother opposite Claire foy or cate Blanchett.

My fear is that time is ticking. And honestly fifteen years would be about it for an eight show week... I’m generalizing.

Wasn't she offered A Doll's House Part 2? Or am I completely making that up? Personally, I would love to see her take on Lady Bracknell in a couple years.

Troye Sivan. I saw him live in concert and he's magnetic. He looks as much like a teenager as anyone starring in Be More Chill and Dear Evan Hansen and could also work in a contemporary play like Significant Other. He's no reason to ever do theater but maybe a one night benefit concert or one of those (usually dreadful) NBC Live shows.

Im still holding out hope that Chris Colfer will hit the Broadway stage at some point. It would have to be a pretty unique role, though.
