It is probably album only because it is a preorder. If people have already purchased the highlights version from iTunes, they have a "Complete My Album" option where you pay a discounted price for the rest of the album which I. This case would be the new 22 tracks.
I don't think so. Also, some of the tracks on the Highlights album are extended for the Deluxe album (or so it appears from the run times already posted).
@AEA/DisneyBwayFan22 Hopefully it will be an option once it's available for purchase rather than pre-order. I was able to do "Complete My Album" for BOMBSHELL since I bought the singles when they were previously released. But I bought the Target deluxe edition.
Someone online had a live stream of the LES MIS deluxe soundtrack and I took a listen.
LOOK DOWN - The other convicts' verses are not what make this version extended. At the end of Look Down, it is the "Freedom Is Mine" verse that is added.
THE BISHOP/VALJEAN'S SOLILOQUY/AT THE END OF THE DAY - The same as Highlights; wish they would've included Fantine's verse in the latter, but they didn't.
THE DOCKS (LOVELY LADIES) - Sounds great! This sounds complete, I believe; no other verses cut. It also includes Fantine's verse at the end that segues into I DREAMED A DREAM.
I DREAMED A DREAM - The same as Highlights
FANTINE'S ARREST - Starts at Valjean's entrance; does not include "the crime" between Fantine, Javert, and Bamatabois. It is pretty complete from there and includes the dialogue where Javert tells Fantine he will take care of Cosette.
WHO AM I? - Starts after Javert leaves; Valjean begins at "They think that man is me..." After that, it is pretty much complete. Does not include any dialogue after he finishes.
FANTINE'S DEATH - Pretty much complete.
CASTLE ON A CLOUD/MASTER OF THE HOUSE - Same as Highlights; no matter what people say, I really liked HBC's entrance ("Well look who's here!") and wish they'd included it.
THE BARGAIN - Really like listening to Isabelle Allen's vocalizing at the beginning. Starts with that little bit when Cosette and Valjean meet. Includes some of Sacha's impromptu dialogue, which I thought was funny and Cosette/Valjean after they leave the Thenardiers. Pretty much complete, also.
SUDDENLY - Same as Highlights
THE CONVENT - The vocalizing of the nuns in the convent; includes the dialogue between Valjean and the man outside the convent. Segues into STARS.
STARS - Trying to decipher the difference in timing... the timing tracker thing said it was about 2:48 and it is 3 minutes on the Highlights according to iTunes. Wasn't there playout music added on the Highlights version? Segues into PARIS/LOOK DOWN.
PARIS/LOOK DOWN - The entire thing sounds great! Sounds complete, as well. Daniel's Gavroche verses sound much better and clearer on here than in the film. Does not include dialogue between Marius and his grandfather.
The scene between Marius and Eponine ("Hey there Monsiuer...") is not included which disappointed me a little bit. lol. Anyway...
THE ROBBERY - Starts at Thenardier calling the "henchmen" and setting up the plan. Pretty much complete, including Thernardier and Javert's section.
Another Marius and Eponine scene not included ("Cosette, now I remember...") Sad day.
THE ABC CAFE/RED & BLACK - Same as Highlights
IN MY LIFE - Complete including Cosette/Valjean; previously on Highlights, Marius' verse begins the track; it is now a part of this track.
A HEART FULL OF LOVE - Starts with Eponine ("Waiting here...") then transitions into the song. Complete.
ON MY OWN - Starts as it should; same as Highlights. However the Attack on Rue Plumet with Thernardier and Eponine is not included.
ONE DAY MORE - Same as Highlights
I will post my notes about the second half of the album when I'm not typing on my iPod. lol. Very pleased with what they did added. If you're expecting a majority of the film on here, obviously that won't happen and you'll notice what's missing (especially if you're a hardcore LES MIS fan). What I missed from the album that was in the film, I already mentioned, at least from the first part of the album.
I took my Academy screener and ripped the audio, seperated each cue within it's own track so I have a complete motion picture soundtrack that reflects what was performed on screen, including the end credits music.
This is the cover I created for my own personal version:
Here's a snapshot of the tracks. The first 1/2 of the film is comprised of 33 tracks. I even included the underscoring that leads and/or comes after actual musical numbers.
I don't think the "complete my album" feature will allow any discounted buying for this since the highlights album will be viewed as a distinctly separate album from the full soundtrack.
Sorry... It sounded amazing on headphones, though. I'd still get it. Just remember that it's not the ENTIRE score of the film. They really went in and remixed the orchestra/vocals/background noise, etc. and it sounds great.
Glad to hear it sounds amazing. I'm not canceling my preorder. I used a couple RewardZone certificates, so if I cancel, I'll completely lose that money.
I was wanting the ENTIRE film score since it was 2 CDs. So, I'm disappointed that it is not what I wanted/expected. But... I'm sure I'll still like it. I love the film and it will nice to have a more complete recording.
I still don't get why they would release a "complete" recording that still has cuts.
Same with the 25th anniversary tour CD. They recorded it live so you know a professional recording of the full show exists and it would all fit on two CDs, but for whatever reason they still made a bunch of cuts. It's infuriating.
The new tracks seems to $0.69 for everyone, since I bought the highlights album when it was on sale through Amazon's MP3 store, not through iTunes, and it's showing me that price for everything that was not on the highlights album.
