I think both young men are incredibly talented; however, I do agree with the comment of not comparing them. Why do we have to compare them?
I think that they are both very versatile and both super talented. Jeremy Jordan with Clyde, Jack, Tony and his role in Joyful Noise. Aaron with Hairspray, Wicked, Next to Normal, RENT, CMIYC, and his roles in Howl and Les Mis. They're both spectacular performers, they both have incredible voices, and wonderful acting ability. They don't need to be compared to each other.

I was just about to say that! Look at the roles they've played. None of the roles either have played are remotely comprable to one another's. I think Tveits roles have tended to be more of the same and agree that Jordan has had a more widespread variety of roles and versatility. But they are very different type-wise and don't really compare.

Regardless of the two's talent I do not care for Tveit because when he performs he gives off this "I know I am good" vibe and it is very annoying.

Don't make me chose, I couldn't for the life of me.

It's a lot like Leonardo Decaprio vs Christian Bale.

Jeremy Jordan has that special rare charisma that Hugh Jackman, John Travolta, James Cagney have/had where they can bring anything to life and charm the hell out of you, AND he has a unique phenomenal show-stopping voice I haven't heard before and can't find a voice like it. On the Down side, Jeremy Jordan needs an acting coach, even though he has high potential, his over acting can get in the way (he could be the next Hugh Jackman or he could be the next James Marsden)

Aaron Tveit has young Robert Redford good looks and great voice(though not as unique as Jordan's, Tveit's voice is sometimes close to Richard H. Blake's), Tveit has charisma but different sort, he has silent charisma(and vocal), the advantage he has over Jordan is he can act and can display emotion through his face and body language without ever needing to vocally overact, he has a loud presence and can steel a scene without saying a word(look how he made the role of Gabe). The downside is that he could easily get trapped into typecasting by his golden boy looks into playing second fiddle love interests(I hope Les Miserables will change that)

Jeremy Jordan has crazy charisma/star quality/whatever you call it. I love Aaron Tveit and his voice, but he doesn't give me as strong of a "wow, this guy is awesome" feeling.

Jeremy Jordan is a hell of a lot more versatile than Tveit. No competition. Just imagine how much better CATCH ME would have been with Jordan as Abagnale, as opposed to the ridiculously bland performance Tveit gave. Updated On: 6/7/12 at 05:32 PM

Let's have this conversation in 25 years when hopefully one is Marlon Brando and one is Paul Newman.

And, hopefully NOT one is Warren Beatty and one is George Hamilton.

If we're talking about versatility, Jeremy is wonderful. His work on "Heathers" has been outstanding thus far. JD is obviously quite a departure from his work in Newsies and I was really impressed by how he handled the darkness of the role. His voice was also beautiful on the score, but Larry O'Keefe's music really gives singers a lot to work with.

See, I've never understood that. I was fortunate enough to see Catch Me If You Can and I really enjoyed it. I think Aaron Tveit played the part just as wonderful as the next guy. I think the main problem with the show was the book. I feel as though the book was the weakest link of the show. Aaron did the best he could with the material he was given, and I really enjoyed his performance (Goodbye had me in tears, just sayin').
I'm not sure of Jeremy Jordan in that role, though. I feel sort of like Jeremy Jordan is cast more of the tough guy, rough kind of roles, which would be why he's been so wonderful in his previous roles; whereas, Aaron Tveit is cast more of the clean-cut kind of roles (however, his Roger Davis in Rent and role on Law & Order SVU would suggest otherwise).
Of course, every performer has their strengths and weakness. The point of the business is that we don't want every performer to be the same. I mean, how boring would Broadway be if all of the actors were the same - whether it be in their acting, voice, etc? All of them are different and I don't think it's something to have to compare them to. Each performer has something that works for them. For example, I've observed that Aaron has a very expressive face in his acting, without any overacting that takes away the effectiveness of what he is portraying. Jeremy Jordan, as mentioned before by another user, has a very unique voice that is something really incredible, and that really benefits his performing.
Sure, they're around the same age and similar in some ways as human beings and such, but as performers they are so different. Again, it's not something that needs to be compared like "Oh, Jeremy is better than Aaron" or vice versa. They're both fantastic in their own ways.
Rant done.

As long as we don't have to hear Jordan sing/whine/shout through it. His voice makes me wince.

Is there someone out there with the pipes of Tveit and the charisma of Jordan?

I, too, am looking forward to seeing Aaron on the big screen. I've always thought he would do better in TV or film. His energy is right for it, where some theatre stars are too big for the screen.

Tveit. By a mile. As in, he's very very good . . . and Jordan is . . .well, not so much.

Replace 'vs.' with 'and' and we've got a deal. If any producer would put them both in leading roles in the same musical, i'd be on a plane every friday after work to watch it 5x/weekend.

I have never heard a more amazing voice with so much passion and emotion conveyed in it as when i heard Aaron on the cast recording of N2N, after catching it on tour when the Broadway production had already closed. I hadn't seen a show on broadway in 18 years by that point (i used to live closer-in Philly), seeing only local and touring productions in the meantime, and lots of them.

Hearing that voice on the cast recording literally made me think that Broadway actors/singers really do sound better, and I felt very sad that I had already missed the chance to see N2N with the OBC by the time I first heard of the show when it came through on tour. That is what started me coming to broadway for weekends to watch shows (the first weekend was CMIYC on its last weekend), so that I would never again miss an experience like that. So Aaron's singing is personally responsible for the fact that I have watched 55 broadway performances in the past year, including Newsies with Jeremy. I discovered JJ because of AT's amazing voice and acting as Gabe. Love them both. My savings are also heavily depleted now, so I will probably have to stop for a while and save up again for the next time Aaron is in a show.

They're both phenomenal in their own different ways, the only thing that they have in common is that they both are current Broadway 'It Boys' who rule Tumblr and occasionally guest star on Law and Order.

It's okay to like both, there really is no need for the whole Team Tveit - Team Jordan bull****

Luckily/unfortunately for me I'll never have to choose between them

I agree with the many who have said there's really no need to compare these two. They are both extremely talented men with wonderful voices and a ton of charisma. Yes, Jeremy has had roles that are a bit rougher around the edges (ie Jack or Clyde) whereas Aaron tends towards the typical leading-man/love interest roles (ie Fiyero or Link) but I personally love them both and think they both have bright futures. And it certainly doesn't hurt that they're both very attractive!

There are tons of talented, attractive people out there who cannot, for whatever reason(s), carry a show. Not everyone has 'it'. We found out that Roger Bart isn't a leading man, and I guess we'll find out soon if Katie Finneran is a leading lady. Some folks are phenomenal as supporting actors, but just not right for the lead, and it can be impossible to determine exactly why.

perfectforyou1012 - Agree totally with you about Tveit singing "Goodbye" Not only did I seem him do it in the show but at a Barnes and Noble CD signing as well. I could not believe he did not get nominated for Tony for "Next To Normal". His singing "I'm Alive" was one the highlights of the show.

Any other suggestions?

The irony, of course, in regard to the implications in this thread that Jeremy Jordan and Aaron Tveit cannot or should not be compared because of the contrasts between them is that this in and of itself is a comparison of the two.

There is no way that CATCH ME IF YOU CAN could have been any better than it was saddled with the mediocre score it had. (David Yazbek would have been a much better match for this show, I thought, but even Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman could have done better than the second-rate work they delivered on this.)
