A question to those from the Los Angeles area...

My wife and I will be in Southern California after Christmas, and into January. We find ourselves with New Year's Eve of all days being the only day that we need to connect between a stay at Disneyland, and a resort in Newport Beach.

I'm looking for advice on hotels or places to stay for New Year's Eve. Price is something that we aren't capping, because we know its probably a hotel's most expensive nights, but not sure what to do or where to stay. It's our honeymoon, so extravagant is totally fine. I would love to have stayed at Chateau Marmont, The Beverly Hotel, or the Hotel Bel Air, but none of them let you check in on New Year's Eve. I want something with that Old Hollywood vibe.

Any insight would be great!

Two Old Hollywood hotels come to mind, and both have hosted the Oscars.

On touristy Hollywood Boulevard, the Roosevelt exudes old yet glamorous film making and is a short walk to the Chinese Mann movie palace, Hollywood High School, and an In N Out burger. Not every honeymoon meal needs to be a classy affair.

I also like the majestic Millennium Biltmore in downtown LA at Pershing Square. You can experience the dizzy staircases from Hitchcock’s Vertigo. And you’ll be under the same roof where The Poseidon Adventure’s New Year’s Eve dinner scene tragically ended for guests who refused to climb the inverted, metal Christmas tree.
