Below is a list of some NYC restaurants that are no longer with us. Anyone else post restaurants you remember who have departed to the great kitchen in the sky

I remember clearly the first time I was allowed to come to NY without my parents. I was 15 and was coming to see The Beatles at Shea Stadium with my best friend. We stopped at the Horn & Hardart automat for dinner before the show. It seemed so very, very "New Yorky" to us. I couldn't wait to come back again. The next time I came to NY they were all gone. Now a section of the wall of little glass doors can be found in the Smithsonian!
(The Russian Tearoom is another place I always wished I had visited)

This was an exceptional Northern Italian restaurant with great ambiance. It was located behind Lincoln Center. It suddenly disappeared about a year ago.
This thread makes me sad. It brings back so many memories.
The Auto Pub - the tables were in cars
Chock Full of Nuts - the counter was always an interesting place
Asti's - the waiters sang opera
Howard Johnson's - yeah it was a chain, but the one in Times Square was so 1950s and had so many memories
Windows on the World - lost on 9/11
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
I second Mama Leones. I thought it was Mama Leonas. It was a long time ago that I was there. Great brushetta as I remember.
