Huh, didn't see this one coming at all, good for Leavel, I might have to check this out.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

Well, girl's gotta eat, but after her triumphant turn in Drowsy Chaperone, she takes over in Young Frankenstein, and now this? All those who have been predicting Karen Olivo's star rise based on her Tony win should pay attention.

Karen Olivo doesn't have two children to feed.

obviously she did it to work... broadway money is good and sometimes you need it... and she will go straight from Mamma Mia to Minskys which starts rehearsals in december

Oh please. Why must people spin this as something negative?
Beth is talented and I am sure she will shine in the role. Donna is a somewhat demanding role. I wanted to take family to see this over the summer, but maybe I will have to wait till September.

The situation with Carmello is different. While she's had a nice career for herself, I think Leavel's choices are being met with such criticism because of how recently she won a Tony (though people are wrong in assuming that guarantees high profile projects.)
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
I just saw Mamma Mia! a week ago...it wasn't my choice, but Carolee was amazing in the role of Donna. She's leaving on August 30th, so I guess there will be an understudy for almost a month.
Does anyone else think that they will revamp the ENTIRE cast like they just did in London??
Chris Peluso would probably have to leave in the beginning of October at the latest to do Bonnie & Clyde, I thought I read Burkhardt was only there through September (?), and Gina Ferrell & Judy McLane have been there for years with Carmello....
