Les Miserables Tour 2017  Aug 20 2018, 03:52:07 PM

Yes Philip Quast is the ultimate Javert, too bad he never came to Broadway for Les Mis. Similarly, Ethan Freeman on West End (1997?) was pretty good without becoming over the top. His acting was very detailed and you could tell the obsessiveness of Javert. He is another actor (American!) who hasn't been to Broadway and is performing in Europe (mostly Germany).

Yes, I remember Madame Thénardiers flirted, but that's because she knows they can get $ from JVJ, so she didn't flirt sexually. More like being super nice to him to get more money in other productions but this production it was over the top (again).

As long as you paid your own ticket, you have a right to voice your opinion. Forget about the silly nomenclatures on an internet board.

BTW I forgot to mention that there were unnecessary acting/direction just to get a laugh in this production, which was so annoying. In the scene where JVJ visits Thénardiers to take Cosset away, Madam Thénardiers was flirting, showing her leg etc.. which was so distracting. Also during A Heart Full Of Love, Marius sang fun

Me too! I saw Ragtime there before moving to Broadway.

Les Miserables Tour 2017  Aug 16 2018, 12:57:13 PM

They have daily rush (TixToday and in person) for $40, not sure how many tickets they typically have. But if you can see this show for $40 from balcony/side of orchestra, it's good. I did pay full price but I'm a subscriber so I got some discount for orchestra center seats.

I wasn't going to see this tour as I did not like the revision (not the performance) when I saw in 2013, but I found decent seats (Opheum is huge but as long as you sit in the center orchestra close to the aisle, pretty much any seats have good view) so decided to revisit.

I got an u/s JVJ and the main JVJ looks young on the picture, and ANDREW MAUGHAN looks young but not as young as Nick. I always look forward to the scene with the priest, and since Andrew who is the priest when he's not understudying was JVJ, the u/s priest went on and oversang the scene, I was disappointed. The overall impression of this company is that everybody sings in a big voice and belting. I could not hear any subtlety, Eponine's On My Own sounded like a scream. I'm always hard on Javert but Josh Davis lacked the crucial vulnerability.

I wanted to check who I saw in the last tour company and it was in 2013, and as soon as I saw a couple of actors' name, it reminded me that THAT tour company was pretty good. Peter Lockeyer as JVJ, Jason Forbach was Enjolras, and Grantaire was Jason's husband, Joseph Spieldenner.

During the show, I remembered the performance I saw in Toronto in 1998, that was the tour when Colm came back as JVJ. Gosh it's 20 yrs ago, but I still remember the entire cast (except Javert lol) was excellent. Glad I made that trip!

Hamilton next ticket release on ticket master verified  Aug 21 2017, 01:01:16 PM

Try weekday, esp Wed matinee. I tried weekend shows and no seat comes up. Weekday in June I got lots of selections (but more like mezz area) You can choose seats now rather than waiting for the best available seats.

When Carole and the Nederlanders opened it, 25 years or so ago, it was appreciated, but it needs to be brought up to contemporary standards. First and foremost in the bathroom department. And the outer lobby has so much wasted space while the orchestra-level lobby is permanently congested.

Roman Holiday Previews  Jun 8 2017, 11:18:11 AM

In addition to Takarazuka version in Japan, there was another full scale original version as well as three person version (Princess, Joe, and Irving) of Roman Holiday in Japan. I bet this Cole Porter version will do great in Japan as it seems they love Roman Holiday. Here is a link to three persons version. https://www.youtube.com/embed//tWZbapA4p9o

Hamilton in San Francisco  Jun 5 2017, 04:32:20 PM

My friends went to see the evening show on June 3rd and Act one and two Hamilton actors were different. I haven't confirmed the name of the actors but I assume it's Michael (Act 1) and the alternate (Act 2). My friend said the Act 2 actor sounded like LLM. I hope Michael is okay!

Have you used Park Whiz before? If not, please sign up at  http://ssqt.co/m5bO1Fj you'll get discount. I quickly searched 6/8-9 overnight (7pm check in, checking out 10am) and there are several options. I don't know where your hotel will be, but I parked 530 Turk ($22) st before and it was fine. I also used 265 eddy st ($40) and it was fine although it's in the middle of area you want to walk very fast lol. At least it's closer to the theatre. Enjoy the show!

Hmm are you going to see before Tony Awards? If not, it could be a gamble because I don't want you to spend that much money and not seeing Ben. I don't think he misses a performance much but it's a taxing role and he'll be in the show

Evan Hansen, Should we wait until you are in Denver?  May 26 2017, 10:05:47 PM

I sat at Mezz side and my view was perfect. I got a ticket on Telecharge two days before the show (until then, the show was sold out so I assume it was released by the house), I paid the regular price.

I liked the show and thought Ben was great but I wasn't impressed as others. I also think the show will be fine even after OBC would be gone. Saying that the show will fall apart after Ben left would be like suggesting actually the show isn't that good, only the pe

Limited view seats for Come From Away  May 10 2017, 11:24:11 AM

Thank you macnyc! That's an excellent price but would you pay the same seat for $89??

Limited view seats for Come From Away  May 10 2017, 11:06:20 AM

Has anyone sat in extreme side seats that are sold as partial/limited view for Come From Away? How partial is it? I have a vague recollection that I saw It's Only A Play from such seat (mezzanine) and it wasn't good. Thank you!

You'll be in NYC this Sat? because right now there are two orchestra seats available for this Sat 2p

Hamilton in San Francisco  Mar 24 2017, 02:51:02 PM

Okay I looked at the curtain call pic and Emmy indeed changes her hair style a bit but it's unnoticeable from a distance (back orchestra); therefore it still doesn't show that she has aged.

Anyway, I agree with the critic's assessment of Luwoye’s Hamilton. When he meets Burr, he didn't show the arrogance that runs inside of him and comes off weaker than Burr, so you'd wonder why the rest of his squad immediately got drawn to him. I disagree about KGIII th

The HAMILTON Tour Thread  Mar 24 2017, 01:54:05 PM

Daveed was reportedly (via Facebook post) attending the Opening Night in SF. I thought he had a rap gig somewhere yesterday. The bullet is Jennifer Geller (https://twitter.com/_JenniferGeller/status/825519820242313216)

I don't mind about Emmy's hair style, I only was annoyed that her hair style doesn't change to show that she has aged over time. She wore a wig on Broadway when she went on as Angelica. Also there are two (maybe three) ensemble actors whose hair style is very similar to the OBC ensemble (Carleigh Bettiol, Jon Rua, and Betsy Struxness) and I don't think it's a coincidence, and if that was intentionally done, then why not having an actress who plays Angelica to wear a similar wig as OBC?
