BE MORE CHILL to Premiere Off-Broadway This Summer  Apr 22 2018, 05:30:54 PM
I’m guessing if the Off-Broadway run goes well it’ll transfer to broadway. It seems like the kind of show that could work in a smaller space, and it seems almost unprecedented in its built-up social media fandom.
THE GREAT COMET Announces September Broadway Closing; Final Performers for Role of 'Pierre'  Aug 8 2017, 07:19:04 PM

This is beyond upsetting. I had a feeling it would happen, but it doesn't make it hurt any less. Denee Benton should hopefully get a nice new role soon.

My god, that cast.

Oh my god, she is amazing.

Dear Evan Hansen Stage Door  Jul 3 2017, 04:02:24 PM

I don't think that stage-dooring is an inherently awful practice, but the entitlement and mob-mentality that's taking over a lot of these practices (particularly in megahits like Hamilton and DEH) is certainly making it seem like such. Stage-dooring can be a fun bonus, but it's just that: a bonus.

The actors should not be forced to greet every single person in the audience after every show, especially when inconsiderate a-holes just want to sell an autographed playbill, nor

Optimistic Showtunes  Jun 28 2017, 09:33:09 PM

It's a bit iffier within the context of the show itself, but "You Will Be Found" from DEAR EVAN HANSEN is definitely quite optimistic.

"I'm Here" from THE COLOR PURPLE, as does "Raise You Up/Just Be" from KINKY BOOTS (Hell, that show is a plethora of feel-good songs)

"The Money Song" from AVENUE Q also definitely is a good example, along with "Purpose" and "Fantasies Come True".

EDIT: And how coul

Mean Girls Dreamcast  Jun 23 2017, 10:46:55 AM

Helene York would be an AMAZING Karen Smith. And Emily Skeggs as Janis Ian.

1984 Reviews  Jun 22 2017, 09:42:42 PM

Considering the reviews on here, these are definitely better reviews than I expected.

1984 Reviews  Jun 22 2017, 02:37:55 PM

If nothing else, Justin Squiggs released a VERY cool sketch for this.

Adaptions You'd Like To See Happen on Stage  Jun 19 2017, 02:02:21 PM

SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD seems like it could work amazingly on stage. It lends itself to a very music heavy story, and the staging and lighting design could be something truly exciting. I also think Mike Faist could be an excellent Scott. If you can get Peter Darling, Tim Minchin, and Matthew Warchus together for this, it would be a hell of a show.

1984 Previews  Jun 19 2017, 11:11:38 AM

I feel so sorry for the cast and crew of this if they have to hear those shrill noises 8 times a week. If it's any consolation, they might just be numb to it at this point, or they can anticipate the moments and plug their ears.

As someone easily spooked by loud noises in theater, this production sounds like one I'll be steering clear of.

CAROUSEL Broadway Revival Officially Set for Spring 2018  Jun 19 2017, 11:09:19 AM

I think the Nederlander would work really well. It's a good in-between for the bigger and smaller houses on Broadway. Of course, the question is if they can get a good name for WAR PAINT once Lupone and Ebersole leave, in which WAR PAINT wouldn't be vacant in the fall.

M. BUTTERFLY Fall 2017 Broadway Revival, Directed by Julie Taymor  Jun 19 2017, 11:06:18 AM

Is this an open run? I couldn't find information about a closing date anywhere.

Best Musicals of 21st Century  Jun 15 2017, 03:26:49 PM

How the hell are GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE and MATILDA not on this list?

Great Comet closing in January?  Jun 13 2017, 11:54:30 PM

I have tickets for early October, and I'm praying with all of my heart Grace McLean is still in it.

Aside from that, I'm sadly not 100% sure if it can keep going strong, especially if running costs are as high as I imagine. I'd love to be proven wrong, though. At least let it PLEASE have a longer run than On Your Feet!

M. BUTTERFLY Fall 2017 Broadway Revival, Directed by Julie Taymor  Jun 13 2017, 12:30:46 AM

I think the Booth is pretty much its only option, unless one or more of Bandstand/Indecent/Play That Goes Wrong are shifted to a Labor Day closing, considering it's confirmed at a Shubert Theatre.

For some reason, I kept envisioning the Walter Kerr for this, but guess that ain't happening.

Josh Gad in Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum  Jun 12 2017, 11:42:03 AM

I can imagine a bunch of producers in the room going like "wait, what if we ACTUALLY did that?"

Why are there so many bio musicals and stupid musicals next season!  Jun 7 2017, 11:15:43 PM

Come From Away, Groundhog Day, and War Paint weren't announced for Broadway until the fall I think. We don't know what the season will truly look like yet.

Overrated Musicals Of The Last Ten Years  Jun 6 2017, 11:08:00 PM

I like Book of Mormon, but I'm a bit baffled at the overwhelming love it has after watching it a second time. The songs are catchy, but a lot of the humor feels really forced in the book, and I never felt myself truly caring for the characters.

Charlie First Listen  May 30 2017, 11:48:48 PM

Truth be told, I preferred the London recording much more, but some of the songs, namely the letter from Charlie, was actually pretty charming.
