Hinton Battle has died  Jan 30 2024, 07:52:22 PM

I worked the stage door when he came through my theater while touring with Dancin' and we because friends.  What a lovely person.  This is a very sad day.

It's still there, but not from the drop-down.  On the black band at the top of the page, there are three buttons - Main Board, Off Topic, and Buy/Sell.  That's the only way I've found to get there.

Yes to Peter Marshall and Keene Curtis.  I worked at the theatre at that time.  What great memories.

Thanks for posting this Patti LuPone FANatic!!

New Look for BroadwayWorld!  Jun 1 2023, 08:47:39 PM

Just want to say thanks for switching the font back to one that's very readable, and for pinning the top ribbon so it's always there and the page doesn't jump around when scrolling up or down.

Sean Hayes / Oscar Levant - The Jewish Part  Apr 25 2023, 06:55:38 PM

Because for once, other than a couple of folks (one in particular), the discussion has been free of vitriol and people are actually discussing something that can be important in a reasonable manner.

I'm mostly impressed.  I sincerely hope it doesn't go off the rails.

Watching now (intermission is just ending). They email you a link. We have the computer hooked up to the TV. There's also a convo with the cast after the show.

Is it worth it?

I thought so.  I saw it

RIP Max Woodward, longtime Kennedy Center producer who was instrumental in the '02 Sondheim Celebration and the FOLLIES and RAGTIME revivals  Oct 15 2022, 12:05:10 PM

Awww...  Max was a lovely guy.  He was always quite generous with us from The National when we asked to come over to see shows at the Ike.  My favorite house manager at the Kennedy Center by far at the time.

Stephanie J. Block to lead SUNSET BOULEVARD at the Kennedy Center  Aug 25 2022, 07:05:54 PM

If anyone is interested, they do have a build-your-own subscription which can include Sunset and Spider Woman.  The catch is you have to buy 3 shows and Guys & Dolls is not on the list.

I bought my Guys & Dolls tickets, then got the other 2 plus 1776 as the third.

And speaking (or typing) of the West End chat board (which I still haven't found), I just saw there's a Spain chat board.  In Spanish.  Has that always been there and I just never saw it??  Not that I was looking for it, but still...  I'm fascinated by this.

ETA:  Found the West End board.

Kennedy Center IATSE stagehands authorize strike  Oct 9 2021, 06:00:02 PM

I would love to see the show with this touring cast(but I'm also seeing it in Boston, and I live in NJ so I can easily do NYC trips. . . east coast beast coast). But I'd much prefer that stagehands actually have their rights as workers. I'd be selfishly sad for myself if my ticket gets cancelled, but I'd be VERY happy for the workers. To quote the show itself, "we're standing with them." Can't cross a picket line in Hadestown of all things."

Your sentiments are much appreciated!!  Fortunately, you don't need to worry about cancellation...

Where in the World?  Aug 16 2021, 01:11:32 AM

Since I live between DC and Baltimore, most of the theatre I've seen has been in DC/Baltimore and NYC.  I've also seen shows in Boston, Providence, Philly, Atlanta, Charleston (SC), Chicago, Santa Fe, Tucson, Los Angeles and San Francisco. And possibly other cities that I've entirely put out of my mind.

Across the Pond, London and Amsterdam.  My brother and I were in Amsterdam and decided to see "Sweet Charity" because, why not.  As

Buying Tickets In The Mail In The Old Days  May 18 2021, 04:21:05 PM

You sent a check (or for some events, like the World Series, you had to send a money order or cashier's check) for the amount that the seats you were interested in cost.  They would send you what they wanted to send you and you'd go and sit in those seats.  And it was wonderful because you'd be seeing shows, and concerts, and the World Series!

It does seem so old-fashioned in this day and age.  Because it is.  But, there were no ticket fees. At lea

Your First Broadway Show  Jun 14 2020, 12:05:33 PM

First show on Broadway was Chicago in March 1976 from the first row of the mezzanine (I believe the tickets cost $15.50).  On that trip, I also saw The Wiz and A Chorus Line.

First show I remember seeing at all was Snow White at Shady Grove Music Fair in the early 60s (when it was still a tent).
