Those annoying little habits
Posted by ckeaton 2004-06-14 12:41:04

For instance...
I talk too much when I'm nervous.

In the spirit of aura cleansing and self-discovery, what do you think your most annoying habit is?

OCD posting.
But you all knew that.

I for one love your delightful off-topicness. That's not that annoying. This board is more vibrant for knowing you.

I'm talking about things like repetitive gum-snapping, cell phone shouting.

Things y'all know that you do, and you realize that they annoy people... but somehow just can't stop.

For instance, I'm talking too much right now.

Oh yes, I JUST caught the reference.

"You know how people have those annoying little habits that get you down? Like Bernie. Bernie liked to chew gum. No, not chew. POP."

Well in that case, I have a tendency to interrupt people mid-sentence.

OOH!
And I fidget.
A LOT.

I couldn't possibly narrow it down to one...or even a few.

I breathe too heavily during shows. Well someone got mad at me because they thought I breathed too loud so I had to sit through an entire show breathing through my mouth. Maybe I was starting to get sick at the time. Haven't had a complaint about my breathing since though...

I have a tendency to interrupt people mid-sentence.
Ah yes, a side effect of my aforementioned "talking too much" too...

Son?
Welcome to the support group.

"My name is Idina, and I breathe too loudly..."
All: "Hi! Idina!"

Maybe not, but I have identified another of your annoying habits...
Beating me to the posts.
And then calling me evil.
What's up with that?

Oh, and I occasionally twirl my hair.

I don't have any bad habits thanks to my sister who jumps on any habit I start to pick up. Everything makes her nervous one example being, I started picking my glasses up without touching them by crinkling my nose. A few "STOP IT!!!!!" reminders and poof I was cured.

As if I'd need to be Scooby Doo to find that clue to your evil genius-hood...

I turn everything into a sexual innuendo.

Sorry, ckeaton.

Guess another one of my annoying habits is "not knowing when to stop".

Since when is taht a bad habit?

re: Those annoying little habits
Posted by ViciousCircle 2004-06-14 13:19:53

I'm not sure. Ask Mrs. mambo.

Innuendo: (in-U-end-O) An Italian Suppository.

Almost every other word out of my mouth is "Like."
I think it might drive me crazier than those who must listen to me speak. I'm trying to avoid the word so much.

I bite my nails. It started when I was younger and would get nervous during tests in school, and now I just can't stop. It's gross :[

I'm a procrastinator. Does that count as a bad habit? Or is that just a personality flaw?

Sounds like I should just leave that one alone and not ask Mrs Mambo.

Anyway...back to annoying habits.

re: Those annoying little habits
Posted by Blonde 2004-06-14 13:32:26

no i'm a terrible procrastinator too. doing it right now :)

re: Those annoying little habits
Posted by ~FloweryFriend~ 2004-06-14 13:34:46

I am the world's best procrastinator, because I wait until the last minute, but everything always gets done. And usually gets done decently well.

I always say, if it's worth doing, it's worth doing well.
(there's triple entendre there for those who wish to see it)

Beautifully crafted, sir keaton.

"I always say, if it's worth doing, it's worth doing well."

That explains a lot.

re: Those annoying little habits
Posted by ckeaton 2004-06-14 14:27:51

Oh dear, I don't know how to take that.

re: Those annoying little habits
Posted by ViciousCircle 2004-06-14 14:31:44

With a smile.

I crack my knuckles. Constantly. I can pretty much crack anything on my body and do so far too often for the comfort of everyone else.
I also tend to speak in run-ons if I get really excited about whatever is I'm talking about.
I sometimes end sentences in prepositions or participles even though I have a BA in English and should know better.

re: Those annoying little habits
Posted by TheaterBaby 2004-06-14 15:03:53

My biggest pet peeve is when someone ends a sentence in a preposition. I understand sometimes it is unavoidable, but really, sentences should never ever end with the word AT.

Another one of my annoying habits is the tendency to change subjects often, while having a conversation. Very few keep up with me.

I keep putting my glasses on top of my head & then complain I can't find them!(Trite but all too real!)

Cracking my back and knuckles, laughing at my own jokes, jumping from subject to subject... I find myself in whole to be annoying.
