Wetumpka Depot's THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE Begins Tonight

By:

It was the nicest little...whorehouse you ever saw! Opening tonight, July 24, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas comes to life in the Wetumpka Depot's production of this Tony award-winning musical. The energetic musical features over 30 talented River Region singers, dancers and actors.

When crusading television watchdog Melvin P. Thorpe calls out the Chicken Ranch as his next moral target, Miss Mona, her troupe of working girls and Sherriff Ed Earl Dodd must buck the muckraker to keep the ranch open. Director Kristy Meanor said the show will have audiences " boot-scootin' in the aisles with a score that includes " Lil' Bitty Pissant Country Place'" and "Hard Candy Christmas."

A gritty satire about moral hypocrisy and media sensationalism, the musical is raucous summer fun. While the rating is definitely PG due to the overall story line, Miss Mona assures audiences in the opening number that "there's nothin dirty going on!" "We are delighted to have such a strong cast assembled for this show," said Meanor. " Kim Mason, as Ranch proprietress Miss Mona and Patrick Hale as the side-stepping Governor are just two of the talented folks that make up this amazing ensemble."

Show dates are July 24-26, 31, August 1-2, 7-9 at 7:30pm and August 3 at 2pm . Tickets may be purchased at wetumpkadepot.com or by calling the box office at 334.868.1440. The theatre is located at 300 S Main Street in historic downtown Wetumpka.
