Wetumpka Depot Players to Present THE MIRACLE WORKER, Begin. 1/30

By:

"The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched," said Helen Keller. "They must be felt with the heart."

The Wetumpka Depot Players will present William Gibson's heartfelt Tony Award winning play, The Miracle Worker beginning January 30. The historical drama chronicles the miraculous journey of Alabama native Helen Keller, blind and deaf from infancy, as she discovers communication despite overwhelming obstacles. With the extraordinary assistance of teacher, Annie Sullivan, Helen and her family learn the potential of those faced with exceptionalities during a time when institutionalization was the norm.

The profoundly moving play will include two performances that will be interpreted for the Deaf and hard of hearing communities on February 2 at 2pm, and February 7 at 7:30 pm.

"It is my great pleasure working with so many eager, talented performers, who, like me are awed by the absolute beauty of this show," said director Stephen Dubberley. "In following the rules of parenting we often rely on our child's dependency upon us. My revelation during this directing process is that we eventually discover that the rearing of a child is more Art than Science."

The play will be performed the following dates: January 30, 31, February 1, 6-8 at 7:30pm and February 2 at 2pm. Tickets are just $10 in advance and $12 at the door and online. Box office hours are Wednesday-Friday 9am-3pm or tickets may be reserved by calling the Depot at 334-868-1440 or by visiting the theatre's website at www.wetumpkadepot.com.
