The public is invited to come to HEADLAND on Saturday night, October 9, at 7:00 p.m. at Opus Nostrum Theatre. The evening is part of Headland Chamber of Commerce's Annual Harvest Days.The evening at Opus Nostrum will feature a free movie that is a re-enactment of the convention that resulted in the 1901 Alabama Constitution, plus a comic interpretation of some of the State's 835 amendments and then audience discussion.

Opus Nostrum is the theatre in Headland started by John Mcleod in 1983, that just celebrated record attendance of their September feature, KITCHEN WITCHES.

The half-hour film that will be shown on October 9th is called OPEN SECRET and is a re-enactment of the 1901 Constitutional Convention using the words of the 155 delegates who wrote the resulting Alabama Constitution. Professional actors take the part of several of those delegates.

The film will be followed by a comedy skit performed by professional actor, John Wright, then a brief description of the problems Alabamians face that result from the 1901 Constitution and audience discussion of ways to bring about reform. The evening will end at 8:30 p.m.

The film was sponsored by the American Association of University Women of Alabama, League of Women Voters of Alabama, Alabama Citizens for Constitutional Reform and Greater Birmingham Ministries. The discussion following the film, is sponsored by the Alabama Humanities Foundation, a program of the National Endowment of the Humanities.
