Singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot performs in Huntsville on Wednesday, May 13, 8:00 p.m., at the Von Braun Center Concert Hall. The legendary balladeer weaves tales of love and longing in eloquent musical masterpieces that have become enduring standards.

Tickets go on sale Friday, March 13th at 10am. Tickets can be purchased at the VBC Box Office, 700 Monroe Street SW, and all Ticketmaster locations, by phone at 1-800-745-3000 or online at www.ticketmaster.com.

Lightfoot's poetic journeys have been told with such timeless, thought-provoking songs as "If You Could Read My Mind," "Sundown," "Early Morning Ran," "Carefree Highway," "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald," "Canadian Railroad Trilogy" and many more.

Combined with his rich, warm voice and nimble guitar technique, Lightfoot's songwriting talent has led him from the 1960's coffeehouse scene in his native Canada to pop chart hits with his ground-breaking multi-platinum albums and accolades that range from five Grammy nominations to 17 Canadian Juno Awards. He was honored as a charter member of Canada's Walk of Fame and recently inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Musical icons who have recorded his songs include Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Peter, Paul & Mary, Barbara Streisand, Jane's Addiction, Glen Campbell, Olivia Newton- John, Sarah McLachlan and Nanci Griffith.

Lightfoot almost died in 2002 from an acute abdominal aneurysm that left him in a coma for six weeks, but has now fully recovered and continues to tour occasionally with his core band of highly talented acoustic musicians.

"Every time I hear a song of his, it's like I wish it would last forever," said Bob Dylan.
