Birmingham Festival Theatre Presents THE LAST HOTEL FOR WOMEN, Now thru 6/30

By:

Birmingham Festival Theatre presents The Last Hotel For Women, written by Randy Marsh and directed by Edward C. Miller, from tonight, June 14th through June 30th.

May 14, 1961. Mothers' Day. The Freedom Riders arrive in Birmingham and are met at the Trailways Bus Station with violence from the Ku Klux Klan. Police protection is notably absent. The Commissioner of Public Safety, Eugene "Bull" Connor, is a central player in the occurrences surrounding those events, and is soon to become an infamous figure in the Civil Rights movement.

In 1996, Birmingham Festival Theatre (BFT) founder, Randy Marsh wrote a play featuring Connor, the events surrounding that time, and how they affected two Birmingham families. The Last Hotel for Women, based on the novel of the same title by Birmingham native, Vicki Covington, is BFT's final offering for its 40th Anniversary Season.

Edward C. Miller, director of last season's smash hit at BFT, Anna in the Tropics, directs the all-star cast including Douglas Coghlan, Marcus Emel, Amanda Maddox, Erin McMahon, Evan Miller, Sayo Orange, Alysa Rambo, David Seale, and James Ward as Eugene 'Bull' Connor.
