Some Like It Hot is the resident regional premiere of the Broadway musical, featuring music and lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman and a book by Matthew López and Amber Ruffin, based on the classic film starring Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis, and Marilyn Monroe. The story follows two 1930s jazz musicians who go on the run from the mob disguised as women in an all-female band headed to California, with Joe and Jerry becoming Josephine and Daphne and falling for the band's star singer Sugar Kane. Jacob Tischler stars as Monty, with direction by Jason Loewith, choreography by Karla Puno Garcia, and music direction by Christopher Youstra. The production is a tap-heavy, dance-intensive Prohibition-era spectacle that updates the story for 21st-century audiences.
