American Son, written by Christopher Demos-Brown, is a drama set in a Florida police station over the course of a tense night, following two parents divided by race, privilege, and perspective as they search for answers about their missing son. The play examines the complexities of race, policing, and family while challenging audiences to reflect on communication, empathy, and systemic realities. Produced by UpStage Artists, the production runs June 5–14, 2026 at Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Beltsville, MD. A talkback with the cast and director will follow the June 6 matinee performance.
